My doctor told me to have sex immediately when I had that type of mucus because ovulation is happening then. It will only last about 6-12 hours, from what I was told. The best way that I did it, and I have 4 kids, was to check first thing in the morning and if its there, to have sex. If its possible! If you are charting your temperature and/ mucus cycles and you have a pattern established, then you will know that its coming. Sperm can last for a while before ovulation happens. That mucus just lets the sperm get through the cervix and provides nutrition.

Usually you ovulate within 6-12 hours of the egg white mucus, but it varies from woman to woman. You should track it for a month or two to time it..it happens about 14 days before you start your cycle.

You probably ovulate the day *after* the last day of the egg white cervical fluid. It is important to note when the fluid *ends*, as the last day you have it is the most fertile. (But if you continue to have *any* sort of wet cervical fluid after the egg white, assume you *may* be fertile...unlikely but possible.)

You ovulate a few days (different for every woman) after the stretchy stuff starts. Your peak day (most fertile) usually occurs on the last day of the strechy stuff.
