here's the lowdown
a regular cigarette or "kings" as they are sometimes known are about 80 millimeters long, these are the normal short cigarettes, the 100s and i've even seen 120 are 100 millimeters long and obviously the 120s are longer you get the idea
light and ultralight cigarettes have almost no difference in the tobacco combination, the only difference is in their filters, a light cigarette's filter is perforated which allows more air per "drag" or "puff" so the idea is that you will be mixing more air with the smoke and consequently getting less of the bad chemicals of the cigarette
people who smoke lights and ultralights usually end up taking more puffs off their cigarettes than people who smoke the regulars so there is no such thing as a safe or even "better" cigarette
if you havent started, DONT, its a miserable habit that dies hard
if you must smoke, winston makes cigarettes that only contain tobacco and no additives, this is probably the best and also american spirit

There are no safe cigarettes. They all have harmful chemicals and tar that cause all sorts of health issues ( and it does happen!) I think the difference between lights and regulars are the filters, but they are still dangerous. 100's and 120's and shorts are all indicators on how long the cigarette is. I hope this is just for research and not because you want to start smoking... its a really gross habit that is harder to break than you'd think.

The only difference is the amount/size of the holes in the filter. the larger and more holes in the filter, the "lighter" the cigarette will seem to be. Don't be fooled, light, ultra-light, mediums, reds, 100's....they are ALL THE SAME. All of them cause cancer. There is no such thing as a safe cigarette (other than the imaginary one...) :)

The lights have less tobacco flavor than regular ones. Certain brands have a cheap taste (the cheaper ones). All in all, they have the same amount of nicottine, tar, carcenogens, etc. YOU WILL DIE IF YOU SMOKE! (and cough up phlem every morning and night and be winded from walking up stairs and smell really really bad)
