I'm staying at a friend of a friend's Villa next month - he's a Count. I was wondering what all the titles/ranks are of Italian Royalty?

Thanks

Out $1,000 didn't like my answer to her earlier Q.

I actually run a Not for Profit that I started in Chicago - what have you ever done for people?

King, Queen, head of country (like a President)
Earl, Head of region (like a Governor)
Duke, Head of smaller region (Like a County)
Count, Head of smaller region (Like a Mayor)
That is how my family explained it to me. I am the descendant of a European Count.

Italy is a republic with no royalty or nobles. Titles are purely names from a bygone era. Italy once had many kingdoms, dukedoms and principalities. The last Italian monarch, King Umberto II (1904-1983), was deposed by popular referendum in 1946. The last King of Italy was from Piedmont, however before that there were many independent states. Even the Pope himself had Papal States over which he was the supreme temporal as well as spiritual leader. Italian nobility is not easy or simple. I am sure the count would love to entertain your sincere interest by answering a well phrased and informed question. Why do you feel the need to brag about this online? If you're so rich and noble you won't find the need to brag about it online to a bunch of strangers. You're lame.....This is not a chat room woman. If you need validation go to a dating service online and lie through your teeth. BTW, Just because you run a not for profit organization (and pocket all the donations you get) that doesn't make you Mother Theresa either.
