I used to be "labeled", though I really thought I was more moderate, as a Republican. But lately the republicans have become so...Stupid.
We used to be about lowering taxes, against nation building, fighting corruption, minimizing the red tape, pretty much saving money anyway we could.
Now it seems we have lost our way. Almost a billion tax payers dollars are blown every day on some sh1th0le country that has done nothing thus far to help our economic situation. The taxes have actually increased, cost of living has gone up, we are building two countries right now, corruption is rampant with Cheney and Haliburton, and frivilous government spending is at an all time peak with inadequet programs, FEMA, Homeland Security, sending soldiers to the border with Mexico!
Not to mention the fact that govt has gotten bigger, deciding who gets married, wire-tappings, and such.
What is worse is the Democrats suck worse. We need Ross Perot back.

the dem's agreeing to goto war should have been a clue to the republicans to stay away. Especially when Hilary jumped on.

Like I've said before, there is nothing wrong with the Republican party. Theodore Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower are proof. It's the virus of Conservatism that is pulling it's name into the mud. Have you noticed that the word "repug" wasn't used to describe Republicans until people like the Bushes, Reagan, and Nixon got into office?

I wish we had some better Republicans. I really do. And the Democrats are even worse. I've said it many times, Bush isn't great, he's an average President, and a poor Republican, but the Dems sent Kerry, and Kerry was even worse.

The cost of living has gone up due to Clinton's increase in the minimum wage, and if you remember, the economy was doing bad when Clinton left office. The people just didn't notice because it wasn't about Clinton anymore. He was a lame-duck, and nobody cared about him. It was all about Bush or Gore. Corruption is rampant, but in both parties. The government has gotten too big.

We need to limit Welfare, we need to spend less (in fact, I recently looked over the budget, and found a way to almost cut it in half, but the Dems would have to be willing to accept a few budget cuts in areas like prison upkeep (hey, sorry, but prisoners don't need TV or good meals), I cut Welfare spending in half, I cut the military budget, I limited a lot of stuff, and I increased spending on education (but cut out scholarships to single-mothers), I cut taxes by 10% to everyone but the richest 1% of the nation, and found I had a surplus of about $15 billion).

Too bad the Republicans in office now can't do that, and too bad the Dems keep pushing for bigger government.

Why do republicans, when they get frustrated, start saying "oh the dems are just as bad"? Misery loves company but the misery of your republican party is for you to bear alone. The dems were and still are fine. Just because you can't swallow humble pie and say you made a mistake doesn't mean that the democratic party is as bad as the mistake you voted in.

Yes Kerry voted for the Iraq war. So what? He has admitted hundreds of times over afterwards that he shouldn't have. Do you even realize how much courage and what kind of character it takes to admit, publicly, for a politician, to say "I was wrong". You are a common citizen and you are not even interacting with people in your own persona. Even then you can't admit your own mistake. Look at what you wrote.
You are blaming the republican party, you are blaming govt. corruption, you are blaming the war, BUT you are NOT blaming yourself for once. You are not saying ONCE that "I made a mistake voting for this person/party". Not even on an anonymous forum. And you are trying to smear John Kerry? Look at the difference in your character. There is a saying "Wise men change their minds sometimes, fools never." If Kerry changed his mind, it only shows that he can admit his mistakes. It shows he can take responsibility for his actions. That is an extremely admirable quality that you and almost all other republicans totally do not have.

Some republican values may be good. But republican values are not synonymous with the republican party. Yes you are right, the govt has gotten bigger. It wants to invade every part of private life. Is that a republican value too? This govt has spent the most money ever. Now that I am sure is a republican value!

Just because the democrats want to help the poor and needy DOES NOT make their government a bigger government. Most republicans can't even distinguish big from small: what credence does their argument have?

How much money would it cost to help the people at the bottom? For sure they are not there of their own choice. No one desires to be homeless and poor. When the republicans say "they like to be poor", whose mind are they speaking? Because I am sure they haven't lived in poverty to know what a poor person thinks. So how much money would it cost to help those needy, downtrodden people? And compare it to the money this govt. burns every day in Iraq?
Compare it!

Instead, who gets the money spent in Iraq? THE DEFENSE CONTRACTORS!! Republicans wouldn't help the poor with their tax dollars, but they would rather pay the defense companies.

So no the democrats are not worse people. And they do not believe in large govt. They believe that govt. intervention is needed to help the downtrodden and the poor. They believe that the government's task is to remove inequalities in society. They believe in civilization. Key word: civilization. The republican ideal is "survival of the fittest" in a social/financial sense, almost like the law of the jungle. Civilization is not survival of the fittest. Civilization is survival of EVERYBODY. We are not animals in a jungle to have to survive over the dead bodies of other people. We are civilized and all of us will survive, regardless of their social and financial standing.

Republicans can either be civilized and like it or remain in the jungle, striving against each other and left behind.

It is good to see that Americans are waking up and seeing the truth about what is going on. My biggest fear is that the 'NEW WORLD ORDER' asserting themselves and are steamrolling their way into power. If people dont soon wake up they will be in full control. Obviously their first order of business is to control the world oil supply. Day by day this country is taking rights away from the free citizens, we have been lied to time and time again, and it would scare us to death if we were ever able to find out all of the secret agendas that are currently going on. No longer will I ever trust anything that anyone in government has to say. That goes for Republican and Democrats. Many will say that I am anti American to disagree with our leaders. But I say I am being a free American by voicing my oppsition to what I characterize as the raping and pillaging of our country and our world by these money making at any cost machines that are now in motion.

There are still a number of "true believers" particularly in the House, but we're being undermined by a lot of the Senators: McCain, Specter, Bush to a degree, and the usual suspects. Perot, I fear, ain't the answer; much to like, but he's a loose cannon. Unfortunately the system isn't encouraging to a third party, and remember what Perot did in '92, helped get Billy Boy elected!

I was agreeing with you til you said the Democrats suck worse...

The country was doing great til Bush got elected. At least we weren't in this war and the economy was going good, rich and poor alike had to pay taxes and and we had a budget surplus. Seems to me the country was doing well and we had all of our civil rights too!

I think since the repulicans got total control of the presidency, the house and senate they became power hungry and didn't want it to end. So they are spending like crazy, trying to 'bribe' everyone they spend it on to vote them into office again. The Neocons aren't really republicans at all, they want to take over this country like a common dictator takes over a country in S. America. They are curbing civil rights in the name of fighting terrorism, which is the most cowardly thing any democratic country could ever do.

What could be worse? A total Fascist Dictatorship?

I think if the democrats just changed their party lines to be against gay marriage and abortion they would win like 75% of the country...

otherwise so many of us get stuck voting republican when we'd rather not...
