The Sun won't disappear until 5 billion years later. A little before that the Sun will expand into a red giant. When that happens the inner planets will be burnt up and die. When the Sun does burn out we wouldn't see it but after 8 minutes the position in which earth used to be the area would turn dark and cold.

The sun will never disappear from the sky.

When the sun runs out of energy to burn, it will expand and the earth will suddenly be in the danger zone that mercury is in. Earth will be scorched before we see the sun disappear.

Now if the sun were to simply vanish as your imagination is probably wondering about, we wouldn't know until 8 minutes after it had happened since we are 8 light-minutes from the sun.

We will know approximately 8 minutes after it happened. Interestingly, it would take the same amount of time for us to fall out of orbit.
