I had sex three times in the past week and a half with my current "boyfriend." And I am on the shot. The first time I got the shot, in February, I had almost constant light bleeding. This time, from May, I haven't had any, just a slightly thickish discharge. Now, after I had sex with my boyfriend, I just started bleeding suddenly. And after I had sex, I bled a little bit, but I think that's because I'm young. So could I be pregnant by having sex while on depo and getting a sudden period?

Should I talk to my sister? Because I am up for a vacation, I don't live here. I just saw my "boyfriend" by a sort of accident.

You can, but the chances are slim.

How do I know? Because once I went to the doctor, and the nurse was talking about how she was on Depo and how she is now pregnant.

Anyways, I think the chances are slim, but it is a possibility.

You could just be getting a period. The chances of you being pregnant are very slim. Sometimes you have sex while you're on depo, you tend to bleed. I know from personal experience. I've had a few side effects which involved constant bleeding, pains in my joints, and hair loss. I'm not telling you this to scare you, because the reaction of taking the shot varies from person to person. I myself will not recommend it, because of what it did to me, and also if one day you decided to have kids, and lets say you've only been on it for at least a year, it may take you up to 18months after to get pregnant. So just be careful, ok, and good luck to you. Also, you may want to think about another kind of contraceptive.

Yes. Nothing is 100% effective, so there's always a small chance. But bleeding happens sometimes after sex. Go see a doctor.

Depo Provera is 97-99.7% effective in preventing pregnancy, so it is highly unlikely (but not impossible). Irregular bleeding is common when you start the shot, but consult your doctor anyway. Better safe than sorry!

yes, it is absolutely possible to become pregnant while on depo because the only sure-fire protection is not having sex. all forms of birth control have a margin of error and are NOT 100% effective.

Yes you can, especially if you have been on it for a long time. If you suspect you are, see your doc immediatly. They have a shot to reverse the shot.
