They joined the great gene pool of the invaders and slowly integrated into their society or died.

The same thing that has happened since man began to migrate. The stronger culture beats the weaker culture an the losers either can assimilate into the invaders culture or flee. In the case of the American Indian both happened. The ones that successfully fled all of the invasions now live on Reservations and their gene pool is not pure either because they allowed mixed breeds to regain tribal status. The same thing has happened globally for ever. Contrary to popular opinion, the meek do not inherit the earth. They end up buried under it.

Most of the time, the native populations of those countries colonized by the Europeans have partly retained their cultural heritage & partly assimilated with the European culture. So, you get a mix/melding of the two. In some parts of the world, however, it is possible to find native settlements largely untouched by the modern world.
In some countries, like Africa, the colonists/missionary workers, even in the present, bring medicine & food, etc. & try to help, but actually serve to worsen the problems (sanitation, hunger, poverty, disease).

They are split into at least two groups: the Traditionalists and the ones who entered the white man's world (to obtain an education and employment). Many Native Americans have one foot in each world. A lot of it depends on if they grew up on a reservation or in a city. How much of their traditions they are able to practice depends on the extent to which their tribe's traditions have remained intact; all tribes have been affected...some to the point that most of their songs, dances, ceremonies, and language are all but forgotten, but some tribes, such as the Hopis, have resisted against cultural terrorism successfully and they retain a great number of their traditions and have kept their language (unfortunately, the Hopi are very small in number). The Navajo and Souix (Lakota) are very large tribes and they too have retained a lot of their traditions and their language. For many tribes, what little remains known is known by the elders only, and as they are passing on, that too is being lost.
There is a great deal of misinformation about Native Americans...it is kind of embarassing how little non-natives know and how little is correctly taught about the First People of this land. First of all, they have not all died, and it is wrong to speak of them in the past tense. Secondly, they are not a conquered people. Thirdly, they live everywhere that any people live...in the cities, in the countryside, and on reservations. Fourth, they are unequivocably NOT better off now than before the white man came...would YOU be better off if your ancestors and family had been terrorized for nearly five hundred years and had your land and possessions stolen and been forbidden to speak your language, practice your traditions and ceremonies and lost your freedom to worship because another man's religion had been forced upon you, and if you had had your children stolen away from you only to be treated brutally at boarding schools. The conditions on reservations are as bad as the conditions in any third world country.
I don't have the time to go further into any other issues at this time, but I implore any interested people to spend time with Native Americans, to watch documentaries about them, to read authentic material about them, and essentially to educate yourselves properly about their history as you are unlikely to receive correct information via other sources. Please do not harm this group of people any further by spreading misinformation and making incorrect assumptions about them.

Many tribes youths are now seeking out their heritages. Traditions are being revived as the snow trampled spirits of the Native Americans find the warmth of their lost pride and blossom once again.
Though, they too do live in this same Modern world, they now do so, to a greater and greater extent in communion with the ways and beliefs of their ancestors.

They do stil continue their traditions, but they do not live in cities, they live at hill stations, or countryside towns. I know this because i moved from a big city to a small town up in the mountain area and there are some natives up here.

Many of them still have some of their traditions and all of them have a better live then they would have if we did not come here. They have electricity, running water, education, books, computers, and religion and so on.

Well I imagine that our forefathers either killed a lot of them directly, i.e. by invading and conquering, or indirectly, i.e. by introducing new species of bacteria and viruses that their bodies had no defence against. Those that didn't sie would have been incorporated the populations that now inhabit those countries.

I think all the foreigners have decided to come to England because Tony Blair broadcasted that he's giving away free benefits and houses, as long as you're not English.

Succumbed? Do you still follow the traditions of your stone-aged ancestors? You're a foreigner who won't look into his own country's past.
