My music tape cassette (yea I know, old fashioned) will not fast forward or rewind, but it will play. I really need to rewind it frequently as I am learning the song on it. Has anyone any tips please. By the way, other tapes are working, and I have the same problem in another cassette player.

something is wrong with your cassette and although it's playing now, if you continue to play it, your tape is going to break. Dub it to a new cassette or better yet transfer it to CD.

Cassette tape is pressed againt the cassette window. You'll need to manually spool it forward and backward (at least once, maybe more times).
Do this by inserting something like a Bic pen or pencil through the spool, and either twist the pen to forward the tape or, if you can ('cause it's quicker), hold the pen / pencil and spin the cassette around it. If you're lucky, you'll find that it's only a small section of the tape that's tight.
Be careful near the end of the spool, because you could snap the tape if you're spinning it too quickly.
I hope this is understandable,'cause it seems like a pretty convoluted explanation for something so simple. Best of luck.

Stick a pencil in the part where the tape turns and move it forward or backwards to rewind or forward. If that doesn't work than throw out the tape, look up the song on yahoo music, and learn it from there

What ever you do, dont buy another cassette or player--ever! I know all the songs that you like are on cassettes but you can get it back with cds. Its worth it.

It could be the cassette is wound too tight. It will play but you may need to gently shake it to loosen it up a bit to put some slack in the ribbon.

Sounds like the tape itself is shot-if you have the cd version of the tape you may have to record another one or just buy another copy of the tape itself!!
