Virginia Beach, VA. Gas prices change here almost daily, currently it's about $2.99 a gallon.
I drive a Ford Explorer and to drive to and from work plus get groceries, etc, I spend an average of $212 a month now. When I bought this vehicle about 5 years ago I drove more and spent less than $100 a month on gas!
Isn't it funny how hurricanes, gas guzzlers (does anyone remember that OLD fuel hog cars existed long before SUVs were a regular sight?), and acts of terrorism in foreign countries never seemed to affect gas prices up until the past 5 years......

Not enough. We still have teenagers cruising so much that it is in the news again (Southeastern WI). Today while cycling I saw several people out for an afternoon drive along the lake.
I think we should tack on about an additional $10 US tax on gas just for the heck of it. And anyone complaining about anything that has to do with oil or that stems from oil should be punched in the mouth if they drive more than 5 miles a week.

Where I live, in Hungry Horse, Montana, Supreme is about $2.98 a gallon. Since this is such a small town (less than 200 people), I go to larger nearby towns such as Columbia Falls and Kalispell, where Supreme is around $2.95 - $2.99 a gallon. Anywhere here in the Flathead Valley, regular is usually about 20 cents cheaper than supreme, and mid grade is usually about 10 cents cheaper than supreme.
I personally go through quite a bit of gas, I spend at least 40 dollars a week on gas. Since I have to travel to either Columbia Falls (9 miles away) or Kalispell (27 miles away) to go out to eat, go to Walmart, the post office, the grocery store or the movies, I tend to spend alot on gas. I also got a summer job delivering pizzas, so of course I use a lot of gas doing that.

Well, I drive a Prius. I can fill my tank for 24 dollars and only need to refill once a week. (I live in New England)
The way to bring down the price of gas is to bring down the demand for gas. Economics 101
I've seen "news reports" that claim buying a hybrid doesn't save you money: The higher cost of the hybrid car offsets the savings on gas. You break even. As a hybrid owner I can say that this might be true, but I know that my money is in the hands of Toyota and Wells Fargo, and is NOT going to the oil producers. Hybrid owners' reduced demand for gas brings gas prices down for the rest of you all. Economics 102
If you are going to be broke all the time due to transportation, wouldn't you rather the money you ain't got be going to an innovative auto maker, and not to the rapacious oil companies? Think about it.

Gas is 3.09 a gallon for 87 in Riverside County, California. We spend close to 100 dollars a week in gas commuting to work. Its breaking us! We have to cut the food bill or not pay electric just to get to work...our electric, gas and water have been turned off so much since they raised the gas prices....4 years ago it used to cost us only 10 dollars to fill up the tank now its over 30 and our pay is the same?!? Now you tell me how is a lower middle class person supposed to survive?

I'm in North Texas and it's between 2.85 - 2.89 a gallon depending on the gas company - I'm paying more for gas now and it stinks but the worst of it is that my electric bill went from 132.00 month before last when I didn't run anything at all to 270.00 for last month when it just started getting hot - God help me if it gets any worse and what a blessing the rain was this week - helps keep the house cool.

Gas in Santa Clara, CA just went down from around $3.30/gal to about $3.09/gal.
I can now fill-up my tank for less than $50.
Like a typical Californian, I drive an SUV and spend over $400/month on gas.
