John likes numbers which are greater than 8 mod 13.
400 mod 13 = 10
300 mod 13 = 1
100 mod 13 = 9
99 mod 13 = 8
3600 mod 13 = 12
3700 mod 13 = 8
900 mod 13 = 3
1000 mod 13 = 12
1100 mod 13 = 8
1200 mod 13 = 4
Therefore John likes 1000 (John likes numbers which modded by 23 are greater than 8 and less than 13.
// 8 < y < 13, where y = x % 23 )
It was interesting looking up the information. Interesting for me because I 'HATE' math - but this was fun.

He likes a hot little number named Lola who lives down the street, or maybe he likes numbers divisible by 4. How about a hot little number named 1200. Varoooom. Or, maybe he likes square numbers. If he was a real square he would pick 900.

He likes square numbers. 1000 is not a square number. 900 is the square of 30.

I say the answer is 1200 because all of the "liked" answers are divisible by four. None of the disliked numbers are divisible by four. None of the other answers is divisible by four. It seems this is the only relationship the liked numbers share.
