Rent....the music is better, it has a much more diverse spectrum of characters and has cuter actors/actresses.

I saw Grease live on Broadway in the late 70's when I was a kid. Didn't see Rent live, but anyway to answer your question, I prefer Grease. The songs are better, the characters are better, and it didn't leave me feeling sad or depressed when it was over like the movie version of Rent.

Rent is better for adults and Grease is better for kids and teens. My dream is to see Rent on Broadway!!!!

Neither they both sucked. I can't stand Grease and Rent the movie was absolutely horrible. the play is good, but the movie sucked something aweful.

So NEITHER

I think Grease is better. I've only seen the movie but it's definetly one of my favorites.=)

I love both movies, but I prefer RENT. I saw it in Chicago a few months ago, and I fell in love with the story all over again. The characters are so real and plausible as people, that you actually believe that their lives go on after the play/movie ends.

grease is a classic and definetly fired off john travolta's career, but rent is such a touching story and has some really fantastic songs.
