President Bill Clinton because the country was in a better economic state when he was in power. Also I think the 9/11 attack would never have happened because Bill was never an advocate of war like how President Bush is.

It is only unfortunate that he had to mess up the way he did and then again whose business is it that he had an affair. His family's business, not the US or the world for that matter.

Ready for this one?

Gerald R. Ford

After you've finished laughing, or going, "who?", let me 'splain. For those of you who're too young to have lived through it, or have grown so old that you've forgotten (a dangerous thing, given the present political climate of the US), the country was torn in two during the '70's, and center stage was Watergate. Even before Nixon resigned, his vice-president, Spiro Agnew, was forced to step down - income tax fraud, as I recall, but enough years have passed that I may have this wrong. Gerry Ford was brought into the vice-presidency, in full knowledge that he'd be stepping into the Oval Office in not too long. Then, Tricky Dick resigned. Some applauded, some wept, and some did both as many Americans' faith in their fundamental governmental institutions was shattered. Now, Gerry Ford is a tough a man as has ever been Chief Executive, a football player in college and a military man - The Navy, during WWII (not the National Guard). One of the first things he did was to pardon his predecessor, which was politically necessary but made his brief term as president all the harder. As Nixon had alienated a large segment of the population, he faced an overwhelmingly Democratic Congress, which meant that he couldn't do much legislatively. What I remember most about Gerry Ford's presidency was the way he used humor. He developed a reputation for clumsiness, which may very well have been feigned. "Saturday Night Live" was in its infancy, and he sent a cameo video to it, which was, I believe, the first, and perhaps the only, intended appearance of a sitting president on a network comedy show (Clinton played the sax with the SNL band, but he was still a candidate at the time). His press secretary, Ron Nessen, hosted SNL on one occasion. And it was this humor, rather than anything else, that helped heal the nation from the gravest political crisis in its history to that point. He was willing to be thought of as a fool, if that was what was needed. Think about it: a US President, actually putting his ego aside for the good of the country. That's why Gerry Ford is, in my opinion, the best US President that I've seen in my lifetime.

George W Bush, because he stood up to his enemies even when they were throwing mud in his face and stood his ground for what he believed/believes was/is right.

He fought back when others said he couldn't and he has managed to help liberate an entire country in spite of the constant sabotage by American media.

Also a friend of mine points out...

Ok. Bill Clinton's presidency came on the heels of two Republicans - Reagan and Bush, Sr. As much as you'd like to think Bill was economically good for the country, the Republicans are the ones who sent the economy on the upswing so that Bill could ride it. His policies and taxing brought the economy back down just in time for Bush Jr to come into office and have to start fixing and tax cutting again. IF a Democrat is fortunate enough to win the election in 2008, he'll be seen as a hero again because of the positive economy swing started by the tax cuts, etc.
Don't think dems are good for the economy. They just ride republican coat tails.

P.S. Sorry to burst your bubble but 9/11 was planned while your precious Bill Clinton was president and would have happened no matter who was president after him. Also, if you have had a look at our economy recently you will see that it is doing very well.

Theodore Roosevelt was a strong leader that always put America first. He would have had a field day with today's liberals as he was very srong willed and tough. He was also the President that started our National parks and was strong on environmental concerns. #2 tie George Washington and Ronald Reagan. George got it all started and built the foundation that is still strong today. Reagan told the Soviet Union to tear down that wall and effectively let Gorbachev know that the USA was the only World Super Power.

Nixon - he open talks with China & Russia - making us save, ended Viet Nam War, 1st Moon Walk under his administration, set up EPA, OSHA, & Philapelphia Plan, the 1st affirmative action plan. The Republican Part grew under him but he helped many Democratic causes. His sin was against another political party & do not care about politics.

Abraham Lincoln never meant to free slaves, it was a side effect of wanting to stop states from suceeding. He helped start Civil War that he later ended.
Clinton does not have the best record of the ecomony's growth. He does not have anything other than impeachment to be know for according to history professors.
JFK was an adulturer that is only know because he died in office.

All the Presidents have had an effect upon history...But, I liked John F. Kennedy because he offered a vision and hope to the American people. I was not a fan of his administration, but, his ideals.

Definitely Abraham Lincoln. Not only did he work to abolish slavery, but he brough our country through its first and only civil war. Our nation may not have survived as a united nation if someone else had been president.
