First, we don't have troops in every country. We do maintain a presence in many, however. These are pursuant to alliances we and the host countries have entered into. Sometimes we may have a few troops involved in observing and advising local military units in insurgency problems, again with the blessing of the host country. We don't OWN it, and I don't think we want to. We WOULD like to see other countries adopt policies which would lead to greater freedom and stability for the various people of the world.

Uh, no, the world is not owned by the United States. There are not U.S. troops in EVERY country, and China has WAY more troops than the U.S.

No, but I think the US high officials would like that type of power. We are so in debt that ownership of the US seems to be up for grabs. I believe that generally American people are good people and do care about the rest of the world, especially the poorer and exploited areas. I believe that concern sometimes turn into occupation. I am blessed to live in this country but I do get annoyed with the confusion between patriotism and nationalism.

The US does not run the world, rather we try to help our neighbors as much as we can to elevate them to first world status. We also try to spread the freedoms of the Constitution to other nations. Think of it this way, if we pulled out of every country and focused on ourselves, yea that would absolutely freaking amazing. We could fix so many problems. National debt would be gone in a few short years (then we could get rid of all the support programs because there would be a fixed economy for the governemtn to work with-no more welfare), we could work on fixing disease and sickness (only to create elite strains of viruses and bacterias that are resistant to medicine) and we woudl all be happy! But wait, those people we abandonned built their nuclear arsenals instead of feeding their own people and taking care of their needs, and now we have the very real reality of becoming shadows on the wall. It is preventative maintenance, you take care of problems before they take care of you.

yes and no,, the united states of America has tremendous power in the modern world and has a huge say in what happens and why anywhere in the world,,
unfortunately they make many bad calls and the end result are there for all logical humans beings to see,,
however they have also made many great calls to the benefit of mankind and these are not published very often,,
if you are old enough to remember in the not to distant past we had some very bad dictators who were killing thousands of their own folk every day of the week,, the peace loving mob that slate America for interfering in Iraq are the same mob who demanded action should be taken against previous dictatorships,,
you cant win

if the world was owned by the US, other countries would pay for the privilege. Because the US hands out buckets of money to every third-rate country on the planet, the opposite must be true.

Nope, it is not. But the United States wants to obtain that status. That will never be possible because there are other world powers.
