I have a 2001 dodge dakota sport?

Question

with a 3.9L. overdrive tranny. recent tune up. new air filter, new pcv, new oil. it stills idles rough. it eats gas in the city and idleing. but i get near 400 miles on long trips. highway miles. any ideas? anyone with this problem. it has 78,000 miles

i might venture the answer that your mileage is pretty high...that's your problem right there. idles rough? timing. or spark wires grounding out. perhaps your TBI (i think that's what you have...) needs replacing/rebuilding. maybe the fuel system needs a good going over..and lastly, check your fuel lines all they way. i thought someone was stealing gas from my tank, turned out had a leaking hose. go figure.
