How come a lot of people don't like anime(Japanese cartoons) and the animecons(conventions), do you think this is so because people think it's weird or because they've never tried it before, do parents not like anime because they think it’s violent.

Okay... hmmm... there are a number of reasons someone doesn't like anime.
1) Peers- if their friends don't like it and say it's un-cool, they have a higher chance of not watching it.
2) Parents- some parents think it's too violent and has adult content, so they don't allow their children to watch it (some does but not all).
3) Religion- In some people’s faith they think fantasy is evil so, therefore anime is evil.
4) Cartoons- I have met people that can’t connect to it. They can't see anime as anything other then cartoons (drawings) so they can’t accept it. Not being able understand or perceive it because they can’t get past that it is cartoons.
5) Little to No imagination- some people don’t understand the concepts of fantasy and loves realism, so therefore they can’t understand them because they “make no sense.” (Note: they are the ones that watch the show and say, “That can’t happen!” or “Its makes no sense at all!” or “There is no such thing as magic!”) They can’t use their imagination because they focus on the realistic world.
6) Other people don’t like Japan, for one reason or another and refuses to buy or watch anything from there.
7) Culture barrier- some people have a hard time understanding the Japanese culture.
As for me, I love it!!!

some people dont get it or all the hype of it, i dont really know because ive liked it since i saw ghost in the shell when i was eight, one of my friends thought i was weird cause i watched it. It might be because the storylines can be really out there, or the're turned away by the art itself. Although it may not seem like it there really are a loot of different drawing styles of anime. There are even somethings i turn away from because i dont like the way the art looks. It could also be that all they've seen just had an awful storyline.

I'm a huge fan, and i realize that their folks who dislike it. I think it may be in on folks think "cartoons" are for kids and Manga and Anime isn't art (we have this problem with art teachers were i'm from). A lot, and i mean a lot, of anime isn't really violent, but because most of imported anime is towards Americans who like action there's more of um.True, there is violents in anime, but doesn't ever show really have violents.I've heard in Japan, the don't have reality TV shows to fill in time blocks, so most folks watch anime aplenty. I much prefer anime over some of these real TV things, its boring. oh, and anime isn't a waste of time or for folks without lives, American idol is! and for those how say anime sucks, UP YOUR KELT!!!!!!!

Anime has been around for a long time....I never cared for it myself simply because it is cookie cutter arwork..and in that sense..it reminds me of Disney...
They established a style early on..and everyone pretty much adheres to it...
To me..great drawing has all the hallmarks and styles of the individual artist..and is not just churned out in a particular, agreed upon style...

its new to them
they dont like where its produced
they think its just a animated program for little children

Some animes can be violent, like hacksign...but anime is really great. It just depends on your tastes and the kind of person you are.

Some people thinks its for KIDS but that stupid because its a form of Entertainment just like a movie its just that Annimie are some Drawings and coloring

Well I watch anime and my parents don't know that I do...well they don't really care what I watch as long as it's not porno or anything violent that I'm not suppose to watch. I don't know, maybe people just think it's weird or they don't like it!

i know a lot of people that love anime including me!!!!!
some ppl just think it's for kids, don't like foreign stuff, or think ppl are so obsessed w/ it.
my parents don't care if i watch anime and they don't care if it's violent (cause it's not that violent!)
anime rocks!!!! (but manga is better!!!)
personally, i think they should have made naruto worse and then it on adult swim........
