The simple answer is to practice. Practice shooting, practice ballhandling, practice your athletic skills, and practice by playing. You won't improve your game by wishing to do so. I have a host of tips/articles you can view by checking this page out: http://www.hoopsu.com/playertips.html
There are tips for improving basketball specific skills as well as 'mental' training tips and much more.

Practice. Alot. Also Run a ton. It'll get you in shape, and improve your stamina. Workout, do tricep lifts to increase your 3pt range. Play with someone better than you. Learn from their skills. Work with your off hand to the point where you almost ambidextrous.

Plyometrics, this will increase your jumping ability, have a rod raised 3 or 4 feet off of the ground, i did 4, and jump back and forth across it as quick as you can, start with 4 sets of 25 and the easier it becomes increase your reps and sets, i guarantee it will increase your vertical by at least 10" in three months that is the least, it put me 18" just over the summer.

Work on your offhand by doing layups first. I used to do 100 each hand. Then move out further and play around the world game against yourself with both hands. Finally, shoot freethrows with left and right hands. Once you have developed this off hand, work on your agility and dribbling. The key is to keep your man off balance at all times. Then round out all facets of game by learning to play defense by always keeping yourself between basket and your man. Box out on shots to get rebounds. Practice getting shot off faster and on balance with the key being high percentage shots. Passing is an art too.

find the one thing you are good at whether it be jump-shot, dribbling, free-throws, etc... and always practice that but at the same time work on the other areas. I like to shoot a certain number of shots everyday from one particular spot. my favorite is the side 3-pointer, I shoot 150 a day. I then move to layups usually I do about 200. you get the idea. just, everyday shoot a certain amount of shots from different areas.

hey my name is brad too and i love basketball, and tips on helping you to improve is to practice your layups mid range and long range shots. firstly practice your layups 5 from each side then practice mid range shots from different positions and if you get the hang of shooting long distance practice them from the side and top. also if you want to practice your dribbles you should take a basketball to almost everywhere you go and just practice, practice, practice.
