Everybody works it out the way they like. I do most of the housework and my BF goes to work. He does the whole lawn mowing bbq man thing and we split small repairs, like spackling, painting, changing the belt on the dryer etc. equally because we both know how. He will cook if I'm not up to it, and do his own laundry or ironing if he wants it right away. We're pretty happy being this way.

I stay home with our 3 kids so i do all the housework and cooking. I don't have a problem with this as I view motherhood as my job. However, I do get weekends off. I usually spend most weekends doing what I want...movies, shopping, lunch with friends and he is really good about watching the kids and not complaining. lol

There's no way of getting it 50/50. I stay at home so I have no problem doing the laundry or dishes while my husband works away from home. But there's enough "mess" with three kids to go around so he does clean up a bit in the evenings. Whatever needs to be done, gets done.
If we both worked, then I would not take on as much as I do since we'd both be away from the house.
We work together to make our life and home as great as possible. I'm not his maid, though, and he's not mine.

My wife has a job outside the home, I'm self employed and pretty much work whenever I want to. On days when I work and she's off she does the housework. When I'm off I do it. When we're both off we share it. I can't sit on my lazy a** and watch her work, same with her.. Do it together, more time for fun stuff, together ;-)
