Yes you can! If you have a service provider such as Verizon, Cingular, AMPD, Sprint, Nextel, or others, you can always go to one of their outlet store, or access their internet webpage.
Be sure to speak with a customer service rep about what type of CMDA or SIM they use, and you might be able to get a phone off eBay depending on their answer! Just double check with them before making purchases!

Yes. Go to www.phonescoop.com and put in the model number of your current 'piece of crap'. it will tell you exactly what frequency your phone runs on and what type it is (GSM, CDMA, etc) and write that down. Now go look for an UNLOCKED phone that is compatible (runs on the same frequencies listed for your old phone) and of the same type (CDMA, etc) and is compatible with the same carrier. You can pop the model number of the phone you like in at phonescoop to check it. After that, if you have a SIM card, just transfer it into your new phone and bingo - you are good to go. If your phone does not have a SIM card, simply call your carrier and let them know you got a new phone and wish to activate it. They will do so with no problem as long as it is new and unlocked

Absolutely! Go to Wally World or a service provider and simply buy another cell phone and they will make the switch in minutes.

Go to Ebay and try buying an unlocked phone, there maybe certain spots u may not get good reception depending on the distance of the nearest tower, but it is worth it. Ebay also sells phones with the wireless server just look around, its worth it.

Yes, you can go to your nearest wireless provider and buy a new phone. All that is going to change is that you get a new contract.
