I believe it. I also believe in the theory, in which, as you may also know, whole cosmos is going to turn back into that extra atom. What I wonder alot, when the expansion of the universe will stop and start to shrink back :=)))

Actually, there weren't any atoms at the birth of the cosmos. We know that atoms formed only a fraction of a second after the "big bang". In fact, according to inflationary theory, the leading cosmological theory at this time, most of the matter and energy we see today was deposited evenly through the universe after inflation was complete, with only a tiny fraction of the matter we see today predating (by tiny fractions of a second) the inflation.

The idea of a single misplaced atom "wiping out" galaxies is really immaterial. Any matter that existsed before the inflation would be incorporated into our universe. Surely, thing might be -slightly- different, but certainly not drasticly so.

No, the amount of energy produced at the Big Bang was too immense for a single atom to have made a difference. Besides, from what I understand, at the birth of the universe there was no atoms, only subatomic particles that later became atoms.

There were no atoms at the birth of the universe. It does seem likely that either a little more matter or a slightly different distribution of that matter may have made a considerable difference in the geography of the universe.

nope, IMHO, again imho, if there were ever one extra or ten billion extra atoms, they would still constitute as part of the whole of the universe and would be balanced out by some other forces in nature. I don't think that perfection was the case with the big bang either. I just happened, period.
