Yes, 60% in fact.
And your facts are right.
There is obviously a huge emphasis on 'freedom' and democracy in 'America'.
And yes, this also includes murdering little babies.
It is sad that such a number of Americans are inclined to believe in this.
There has been 70,000 acts of disruption at abortion clinics since it started in America. I would burn all of them down if I had the choice.

Abortion is a totally individual choice. Having a baby is a HUGE undertaking. Surely it's better that every child is wanted by it's parent(s)? Abortion may not be right for some people (whether you're religious, or not religious at all), however, it is the right choice for others based on their circumstances (of which we have absolutely NO understanding). There shouldn't be any judegment about it. It's going to hard enough for those who feel they need to have an abortion without all the hate and nasty comments made. Everything happens for a reason.
p.s. a lot of americans don't seem to mind murdering innocent people abroad in the 'fight against terror' (terror for who, I ask?). Double standards if I ever did see them!

America is deeply divided over the issue. 45 million abortions doesn't tell you how many people agree or disagree. Plus, does this number include pregnancies that were terminated for the health of the mother? Those can hardly be counted--just because you have the misfortune of having a tubal pregnancy you deserve to die too? And what about women who are sexually assaulted? Could you force a woman who has been raped and gotten pregnant to carry that baby to term, even if she put it up for adoption? I think I'd kill myself first. And what happens when the kid finds out? I don't advocate abortion as birth control, but I think morality starts at home and people need to clean out their own closets before they start poking through other people's closets.

Aside from that sounding like a highly inflated number, many other developed and developing countries - such as Russia - have much higher or at least similar numbers to America. And those are just the reported abortions. I wouldn't say most Americans agree with it, but I also wouldn't say most Americans think it should be illegal. I don't think anybody in their right mind would seek out having one!

I do not know why the majority of Americans would agree with or for abortion. However I DO NOT, agree with it. I am not being harsh to the people that are supporting either, but I have my religious beliefs and I do not support the killing of child that is in a women's womb.

Civil Unions - i'm somewhat ambivalent on equivalent rights to gay marriages, i imagine this calls for far extra dialogue. Stem cellular study - I favor stem cellular study. Taxes - decrease taxes, yet for who and at what cost? an person-friendly question like "do you want decrease taxes" isn't fairly significant.

I don't agree with abortion, but once something is given to people it is hard to take away. Just like prohibition. If abortions were made illegal, they would still happen anyway. Just more likely in a much worse environment that a doctor's office.

I personally only agree with abortion when
a. the mother or the child are in danger
b. the mother can't take care of her child
I cant speak for anyone else but I know that if abortions were illegal people would only do them unsafely and illegaly and the goverment has no right to decide personal choices that have to do with someone else's health and their body.

You have not given the perecentage of abortion to pregnancy on yearly basis. So no conclusion is possible.Americans have come out of the clutches of the Church, and morals are dwindling that may be the reason.

It may not be that most Americans are in favor of abortion, most likely it's that most Americans are in favor of the right to choose. Who am I to tell another woman what she can or can't do with her own body? I'm pro choice.
