It is more of a socio economic issue than race or ethnicity. Poor people in wealthy countries tend to be the heavy ones. As you move up the social scale the blubber drops off. It is likely to be more about the availability of cheap foods that are nutritionally causing the problem. My favorite is corn syrup. Read the labels and you will see it everywhere.

After having just left my portly friends behind I feel like I am an expert on this subject. It is not more acceptable in the black culture. The only time it is acceptable though is when your *** and **** are bigger than your gut. As far as white women from what I've seen they carry their weight worse than black women. Once again I am going by what I have seen. Prime example: 3 years ago my friend(who happens to be white) and I both had babies in the same month. we both weighed 260 pounds at 5'6''. She said her excuse was she had twins. I didn't have an excuse I was just fat. We both were teased equally. The difference is she was called big pun and I was called little pun. No one believed we weighed the same.

It seems like it's less of a stigma than it used to be all the way around. A see alot of heavy women showing more tummy than I ever wanted to see with tank tops and other revealing clothes.
But I guess it's marketing ... in a way. Just like most TV ads seem trivial and truly at best sophomoric ... they must appeal to someone.

no,i don't think so...but usually asians have very curvy bodies(well,at least most of the percentage, like me!),also one of my friends told me that she had viewed a documentary in which a certain tribe in Africa,fattened women who are getting married soon,by making them eat lots of food,just before the wedding(this means,really fat)i think it's because of their culture & traditions,they may prefer their women to be fat owning to giving birth or something like that...cheers!
