My husband has gout and red meat and alcohol dont hurt him. Fish hurts him. I guess it's different for different people. You really have to just use the trial and error method when it comes to the foods you should avoid. He takes indomethecin. It's far from free though. But if you dont have any insurance, the state you live in probably has programs for medication.

Gout is a condition where uric acid crystals build up in the body.
This can happen in the area of the big toe and cause a lot of pain.
Our foods contain purines; some foods are higher in this than others.
The doctor may place you on a lower purine diet (of which they will usually provide you a list of foods to avoid. There is also medications that can lower the uric acid in the blood
Here an alternative way to cure gout?

Gout is caused by the eating rich foods. Try eating raw fruits and vegetables for two weeks (2) along with drinking organic fruit juice from strawberries, blueberrties, cherries, or purple grapes. Increase your vitamin B complex, and add Vitamin A 10,000 IU and take 3,000-5,000 mg of Vitamin C. If you must eat red meat there are two kinds you should buy Kosher, or Organic fed beef. The reason for not eating too much beef is that the digestive system takes about 4-6 weeks to get all the meat out. So when your eating it everyday, you can just imagine. :-). You can drink Celery Seed tea, or Birch leaf tea. For pain use 10 drops of clove oil with 4 oz of water (warm). Soak a clean cloth in the blend then apply to inflammed joint. take care and feel better

My dad is prone to getting gout too. He hasn't had it for awhile that I know of. I'm not sure if he's had to get medication for it but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to see a doctor or otherwise you could probably do some research online and see what other medical advice sites may have to offer.

I have helped so many people with gout using Himilayan Goji Juice. Goji can rapidly change your blood to alkalinity from acidity. This is the only functional juice on the market with medical validation including 72 clinical studies on pubmed.org under Lycium Barbarum.
Goji is full of phytonutrients and flavenoids which help to reduce free radicals, acid, inflammation and create energy.

Try magnesium citrate (solgar's 400mg is great). Fresh cherries are usually pretty awesome, usually takes me at least 20 or more. The most effective and cheapest I tried was the baking soda solution.

Make yourself drink water. Don't let yourself get dehydrated. Alcohol makes it worse because it's dehydrating. Gout is a sign that your kidneys are less than perfect.
