There are a number of places I would rate as very cool.
Standing inside the kiva at the Aztec Ruins Monument in Aztec, NM. was very powerful.
Seeing the sunrise over the ocean from our cabin on Orcas Island, WA was beautiful.
Touching the tabby walls of the Chapel of Ease on St. Helena Island, SC was quite special as was touching the columns in the ruins of the St. Helena Episcopal Church just outside of Beaufort, SC on Hwy 17...it makes one weep because the church was burnt down twice, once during the Revolutionary War by the British and once during the Civil War by the Union.
Standing inside the full scale Stonehenge replica at Maryhill, WA was also quite powerful: it is dedicated to the men from that area that died during WWI.
The Grand Canyon is cool. Also cool is Craters of the Moon Monument in Idaho. The thousand springs area over in Hagerman Valley is super cool and there are a number of places where one can enjoy a nice long soak in natural hot springs.
I love the mountains over by Ketchum, ID...and Pocatello, ID...and up in Washington State...and the Sandia in NM. And, I love the Columbia River Gorge...Hood River, OR is super cool.
I also love Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos...all in NM.

Sighs. I don't think I can pick the absolute coolest place I've been. There are just too many wonderful places!!

Coolest = Antartica and Africa (tie)
Least cool = Puerto Rico

P.S. Do not go to Puerto Rico. It is the biggest craphole on the planet. I went there for a week, and after three days, I had to fly back. People there throw trash outside their windows. Not in a garbage can, but out the window. It is also filthy and roach-infested (there is a reason why they named a dance after La Cucaracha). And the people there, all I can say is that if you want to help out the natives there, bring them soap. They need it. Badly.

I am assuming you do not mean temperature. Because the 'coolest' place I have been to was Winnipeg and it was - 45 - COLD.

The coolest, best, place I have been is inside the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. That was an experience I will not soon forget.

well, Nassau in the Bahamas was great, but 5 hours from home is a place called "watkins glenn" it is a huge crevasse in the earth that is like a natural stairway, with stairs and caves that are both natural, and carved out of the stone.

I have been hiking in the adirondacs before, and seen some pretty awesome natural sites, cliffs with 300 foot drops, overlooking lakes and forest. gorges, caves, ponds and burnt out forests that are in the early stages of rebirth, but nothing compares to the watkins glenn hike.

plus, there is a nascar race track not too far from there, and I got to drive a ford explorer on it, right behind my friend in his parents mini-van. heh.
