Six Flags announced plans Thursday to sell or close six of its properties, including the chain's once-flagship park, Magic Mountain, in Valencia, Calif.
In a press release issued after the U.S. stock market closed Thursday, Six Flags announced that it would sell the properties, to either a single buyer or multiple buyers, or that it might sell or redeploy the properties' attractions, to clear the land for real estate sale.

No way they will do that. I live in Bakersfield and I'd hate to see that happen! MM has THE best rides on the West Coast! It would be incredibly detrimanetal to MM corporate finances to tear it down. And think of Hurricane Harbor. As hot as it gets here in Cali, having a water park there is a brillant idea. They would be extremely stupid to close that amusement park!!

It may not be right, but a lot of amusement parks are not making money anymore, so the owners are looking for ways out.

If you love it, gather enough people to create a group to buy and run it, or find other ways to support it before it is too late!

This applies to other amusement parks across the country- our local park closed a few years ago, and I still miss it!

I have not heard that. I think that it would be so stupid to get rid of Magic Mountain. That place is so fun. There are many other places to build houses why knock down MM when there is so much open land to build on??

Oh, God, no. From what I've heard, they are going to either sell or demolish Six Flags Magic Mountain, depending on if they can find a buyer. I just hope it doesn't get to the point when I have to attend their closing day. I would be devastated.

That would be such an asinine thing to do. Why would anyone want to knock down Magic Mountain? That would be like knocking down a piece of history.

It's not up to you or me... if the company that owns and operates Magic Mountain is not making any money, then they should close it.
