If the war on Iraq is for freedom (for democracy)....

Saudi Arabia is the U.S's largest oil supplier and is a MONARCHY.
Now Bush and his father are known friends of its royal family.
In Saudi Arabia, there is no democracy, it is an absolute monarchy. There is public beheadings and abuse of human rights occurs, especially of prisoners, occurs. the rights of women are very restricted- they can't drive, go outside with an unmarried man and must be completely covered whilst outside.
The royal family owns 6-7% of America with a trillion in the stock market and another trillion in American banks.
What do you think of the Iraq 'war for freedom now' if America is backing this country?

Yes, but Bin Laden and those other hijackers were all kicked out of Saudi Arabia by the Saudi government. And who cares what type of government they have? They are an independent nation. Each nation can have, form, and keep whatever type of government it wants. So long as that government doesn't wage war against us or support terrorists, we don't care. Saudi Arabia has prosecuted terrorists, and kicked Bin Laden out. When he was kicked out of Saudi Arabia, Bin Laden went to Iraq, where he was welcomed with open arms by Saddam in Baghdad. Perhaps you should have done a little more research before getting all upset about Saudi Arabia.

I'm American and I think the Iraq war was wrong. And rememeber the election shows 49% voted against Bush. The exit polls (used in many 3rd world countries to verify election results) showed that Kerry won by a landslide. Also Bushs first election showed signs of cheating.

The war isn't for freedom, that's what Bush wants you to think. It is a war of power. The Bush family has had a long fued with Saddam, and Bush finaly decided to take him out. And take some oil with him. Now that's done I don't know why we don't withdraw our troops.

Look, since you're obviously not American let me give you a quick history lesson (since we Americans haven't forgotten).
--On August 2, 1990, Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait with an outrageous claim that the Kuwaitis were drilling diagonally to cross the border and get Iraqi oil.
--Economic sanctions followed, but (as usual) Iraq pretty much ignored the UN.
--Armed hostilities began in January of 1991. US and coalition forces drove the Iraqis out of Kuwait quickly.

HOWEVER, we made at least one bad mistake: We allowed Saddam Hussein to live. He is one bad dude. He killed thousands of his own people and tested chemical weapons on them. His sons were worse still. Uday Hussein was the head of the Iraqi Olympic Team, and he'd hold the athletes' families hostage to ensure they'd return home. As far as I'm concerned we did the Iraqi people a disservice in 1991 and we're rectifying that now. Don't believe everything you hear in the media--I've seen photos of Iraqis that have made friends with soldiers. Some of the Iraqis are dissenting, but others are glad we are there.

We'll never do anything about Saudi Arabia because they control us. If we attacked them, they would pull their money out and our economy would collapse.

If this or any administration would actually get up the nerve to put pressure on the royals to make some adjustments to their government - real public education, rights for women, eliminate the death penalty for all but the most severe crimes (I'd say eliminate it all together, but how hypocritical would that be?) - we might be able to make positive changes.

How to do that, I don't really have time to write that thesis paper.

I agree we should remove all of our troops from Saudi Arabia, and let Bin laden have it. Then when he sticks his head out of his hole, we could take him out. Saudi Arabia is the government responsible for 9/11 and the oil price terrorism that is going on right now.

That is a great point but you also have to keep in mind that the U.S can't bring democracy to the whole world, the people that live there have to do it, fight for the change. Iraq is one step toward democracy but as we know Iraq is dated back to Bush's father presidency and that is where they started.

Check your facts. Canada is the U.S's largest oil supplier, Mexico second, Saudi Arabia third.

the war for freedom is a joke, it always was.....

bringing freedom to a country by the barrel of a gun is for idiots.

The war as always is higly ironic. Bush is useless, yet people think the sun shines from his buttocks

frankly words dont do justice to how incredibly wrong this war is. It needed to happen, but surely it could have been handled differently!!!

"you're confused" ....what arrogance!! if he's confused, explain why!! it's very clear that this is no war for democracy, and you should know that, otherwise you wouldn't have THE WHOLE WORLD against it !! Travel around the world and just hear what people think about American foreign policy...The majority of people can't be that mistaken....

In fact, what kind of example are the US for democracy or freedom???
