River by Joni Mitchell. It isn't on the soundtrack for Almost Famous but is on Mitchell's classic album from 1971 Blue.

According to Soundtrack Info, the only song with a female singer on the soundtrack was Lucky Trumble by Nancy Wilson. There are also other songs on the movie not featured on the soundtack. The other songs from the album which may have female singers is Future Games by Fleetwood Mac but I think the Joni Mitchell song is the one you want.
