my dad is a 62 year old man, i have been proud of him, he does not look 62 at all. its like he on his late 40s im not even bragging, anyway let me get to the point, for 2 months now now he's had this weird looking thing on his bottom lip, its like this big, nasty thing with puss coming out of it. i mean its really weird, i dont even know what this can can be.

so he went to this nearest clinic and they prescribed him some pills which didnt work and that was a month ago. that thing is still there and he refuses to go to a hospital to find out what the hell that **** is(and no its not herpes)

i love my father to death, but i keep telling to go and he keep saying "they are not gonna do anything, they just gonna prescribe me stupid pills which will never cure anything"

im all like wtf.... im gonna drag him to the hopital by his lip if doesnt go by tomorrow, i swear, im 22 years old and he has no idea what effects this has on me. almost every night he has a fever and i dont understand, hes so stubborn...

please help me help my daddy, i love him so.

Do you guys have a family doctor? If so, call that doctor up and and let him/her know that you're concerned about dad. Maybe they can talk some sense into your dad for you. If not, you can always try to make an appointment for him and tell him, "Hey Dad! I'm taking you to lunch today." Then, take him to lunch and after, take him to the doctor. Suck it up if Dad gets mad at you...with a sore like that and a fever, he needs to seek treatment immediately. Good luck!

Try asking him to go for "You" if he is not wanting to go for "Him". A guilt trip is not really a good thing but if you are at your wits end, then this may be your last idea that may work. Explain to him that you love him with all your heart and you want him around for a long time. Tell him that you will go with him and see him through with an exam and whatever else he needs. Give him lots of hugs and keep working on him. Try not to make him angry because that may only cause him to be more stubborn. You can't drag him where he doesn't want to go, but you can use "Love" to get him to go willingly. You'll find it!

is it something in the skin? like a little ball or something?
isnt it a wart? its also can be a thing in the skin, i dont know the name rigth now, but if its what i think it is, doctors wont give him pills, they will give gim operation, my dad had that thing to, but he didnt have a fever. maybe he knows what is it, but hes scared of an operation, mens are some times stupid in that, the dont like going to hospitals and doctors, im sorry, try telling him how you feel and make it like drama.

it sound like fever blisters, when you get fevers you can get blisters on your lips like that. i had them last year when i was sick with the flew, my fevers were so high that i got fever blisters, get him some fever blister medication from the drug store, go to your pharmacy and ask them what the fever blister medicine is called and what isle it is on, try it and if it does not work then he might need stronger medication for it then he would have to go to the doctors ,but try the stuff from the drug store first good luck! oh ya it spreads if you touch it too much so tel him to not touch it, use a cotton swab those things you clean out your ears with. good luck, men are stubborn, my dad is too.

Yikes! I'm not a doctor, but he needs to see one. Is he taking the pills?

Maybe you should tell him you're scared and beg him to go to another doctor. A little emotional blackmail works everytime!

Search under www.wedmd.com and see if you can find out more info in regards to what he has. Parents are like that i have the same problem with my Mom. If you find anything close to what he has print it and show it to him. Maybe if he sees it in writing he may reconsider.

Tell him everything you just said. Cry in front of him if you have to. It may get to him and he may do it just for you.
