I am 5'2'' and am a size 6 with a but. I'm not fat or anything (6 is pretty hot lol) I fin pants that are O.K. but they drag even when they're petites. I'm trying to loose wieght and see if that would help... so far...i've tried like...everything on from every place known to man exept for Hollister. American Eagle's the closest I got. A and F is a little over my price range so...

If I hem them they loose the flare and stick to my ankles. If I'm down to a size 4, then they are a little shorter. not all petite jeans are the same height.

They're around 40-60 dollars, depending on the style. I like the styles they have better than AE, but it's just a matter of personal preference.
By the way, Hollister is a division of AF...just cheaper.

I'm 5'5", I gotta booty as well and I wear size 6 petite at American Eagle. I LOVE their stretch jeans. They fit so well. And they just came out with like a whole new line of jeans.

Hollister on the other hand is targeted towards 14-18 year olds. Their jeans are tighter & I wear a size 9 there. Their regular is too long for my legs, but they don't have a 9-short in all their styles. Their destroyed jeans [cut up, with holes, stains, etc.] are more expensive than the same style un-destroyed. Strange.

A&F is more towards older people in their 20s, so they don't hit as snug as the stores for younger people, like Hollister & American Eagle.

Why not try altering them professionally? Then they'd be a perfect fit on you.

Ya gotta try the jeans on. Different companies fit differently and different styles even within the same brand will fit differently.

Short is harder; I'm there with you. Try the petite stores and 5/7/9. They may have shorter inseams there. Also Delias catalog offers jeans with different inseams. (www.delias.com)

Otherwise buy jeans you can hem right. Flares are going out of style anyhow. Pegged jeans (hug the lower leg) are the hot thing now and length isn't as big a deal because the extra just bunches at your ankle.

Losing weight isn't going to change the shape of your butt unless you lose so much you like like a scary stick person. It sounds like you need to look for jeans with a bit of stretch built into the fabric, because most jeans are made for buttless rectangles, but the stretch makes them fit better. You can also get them taken in at the waist if you need to, and don't worry about the length, just get them hemmed or learn to sew and do it yourself.
