The one Tristan I know in "real life" is a guy. If that's the name you want, go for it!

That's probably because people have been using it as a girl's name more lately and there was that girl, I think her name was Trista from The Bachelorette that I think is getting stuck in people's heads. It was, as far as I can tell, originally a boy's name. It's Celtic and has been said to mean clamor, noisy one, and melancholy. Tristan was a Knight of the Round Table from Arthurian Legends. How much more masculine could you want? :)
We named our son Tristan Blake before he was born and it turns out it was perfect. He is a fair-haired noisy one. :)

Tristan is okay but I personally don't like it with Joseph. How about Tristan James? It's still keeping with the "J" theme.

I love Tristian as a boys name. I do feel it can go both ways. I named my son Kristian (Christian) and he still sometimes gets called Kristin. people are always going to say something no matter what the name is.
