If your baby alreeady enjoys the video then there really isnt a problem...doctors will recommend waiting until 6 months becasue using th etv as a baby sitter is frowned upon. Parents are supposed to stimulate and interact with thier infants! But if you have found a way to occupy the baby for a little bit so you can things done then go for it!! Just dont over do it.

My son watches them as well and has now adopted a love for thomas, max and ruby, and the backyardigans. There really isn't anything wrong with watching tv for children so long as they aren't watching it all day. Public health told me when I asked about it that babies especially shouldn't watch more than 1 hour a day, children can watch a little more but not too much. I admit my son watches more than 2 hours a day and is only 20 months old today but a lot of the time we just turn the cable music chanels on and listen to them instead of watching tv all day. Also because I don't have a stereo anywhere but in the master bedroom for the time being.

Babies are not supposed to watch TV until they are 2 years old, so says the American Pediatric Association. An hour here and there is not going to harm the baby, but constant TV watching can be bad for the child later in life. Neurons are constantly being formed, making connections and being wasted in a developing mind. You dont want the connections in the brain to form because of mindless TV watching. Anyways, even if your baby seems to like watching the television show... they dont. The TV pretty much just hypnotizes them and they cant keep their eyes off of it because of all the movement. It is linked to attention disorders later in life. If you look it up on google and find a credible site, you should be able to get better reasons why it is not good until 2 years of age. Better to be safe than sorry.

My baby has been watching tv since she got interested. I don't allow her to watch all day long, but it's the best thing when I need her entertained so I can take care of chores. This seems to be a big debate between ppl but I say do what you want. If your child enjoys it, there's no problem. I think ppl are afraid that tv is gonna be a substitute for love and quality time.

http://www.zerotothree.org/vol25-1b.pdf This website is a survey done by the zerotothree organization that looks at the effects of watching television and media in general on children from 0-3 years old. One reason it listed was the children can pick up on facial expressions and actions after viewing them and can be desensitized to the real world by not experiencing them in real life situations. It's one of those things that you have to make the best decision for your child. Either way it's a very interesting survey/article.

Boy, I must have slept through this one in parenting class! I don't remember hearing anything about babies not watching TV; my own four-month old pays attention to it now. What it sounds like is that they shouldn't watch TV without a parent right there by them. My wife and I trade off our daughter so one of us can get work done in the mornings. That might help you.

theres nothing wrong with that. as long as your baby is safe. mine has learned a lot from educational tv and movies. just make sure they arent watching any junk, and dont use the tv as a babysitter. a little now and then doesnt hurt and exposes them to new things. especially if there arent any other kids around or if you cant get out and do stuff with your child a lot. my daughter is 15 months and she dances and sings and responds to the characters on her videos and even learns new words.

Nothing is wrong with it. Experts used to say that children who watched TV versus children who didn't had completely different thought processes and temperaments. Now they're saying that TV in moderation doesn't affect kids the way they once thought. My 11 month old LOVES Jerry Springer! Heh...just kidding, of course. He is in love with Elmo though. And the Teletubbies. They freak me out.

TV is good for small children but the programs have 2 b educational in some way. Babies minds are very pliable so if they see something inappropriate when they are young it will effect them when they r older :)

The American Academy of Pediatrics (the professional organization of US pediatricians) recommends *no* TV for babies under age 2. This is because babies learn best from human interaction, not from sitting and staring.
Having your child watch TV may be good for you, but when you became parents, you took on the responsibility to care for this child. It is *not* good for her/him.
