Forget what you know about him. If you went to the hospital and came across a smart a$$, cocky, rude doctor, would you actually allow him to treat you and why? (Dont forget, you just met this dr in the ER for the first time.

I probably would, on the basis that other doctors could have a long list of patients to see, and that seeing another doctor could prolonge my wait for an initial consultation.

I'd want him to treat me even more! After all, with bedside manner like that, it's obvious he'd have to be an excellent doctor or he'd never be able to keep a job!

To be honest yes, because I believe that kind of doctor will tell you the truth and not beat around the bush about it.

I believe I would let him treat me and then, if I were offended, I would take at least some satisfaction in reporting a complaint.
