I think both are fairly comparable shredders, but I'd have to give Rhoads the edge because he and Van Halen were the progenitors of the the ultra fast tapping style used in thrash metal. At the end of his career he also studied classical guitar and put together a pretty nice piece called "Dee".

Randy Rhoads. And to all the people going on about Jimi Hendrix he was an innivator, but he was and is mostly hype. I suppose if you drop acid before listening to him, then it may make sense

Definitely Randy. Hell, he taught most of those guys how to play guitar in the first place! He was amazing and is definitely missed. Kirk's great too, but just not as good as Randy.
