Could be religion, the environment, body peircings, anything. And do you defend the rights of others to express those opinions even if they offend you? Do you talk over the television or change the channel if someone comes on and criticises your views?
No agenda here--just seeing how much people are comitted to free speech.

I think there's a great difference between discussing ideas and discussing people. If you disagree with my ideas, and you tell me your reasons, I will possibly still stick to my views, but I will not dislike you. Now, it's different if you say I'm an idiot for thinking the way I think. In that case, you'd be discussing me as a person. And that, I would resent.

As for television free speech, let me tell you I have very definite political ideas. And I usually watch once a week, or so, a programme with the exact opposite views. I do that to know what they're up to. So, no. I would not try to censor them. Sometimes, I'd like to be there with them, and say what I feel, and if they're talking too much crap, I'll probably change the channel. But I stand for their right to say what they want.

I love hearing how people cometo an opinion and think and especially hearing different opinions so I can hone my debating skills - usually I can hear flaws in their reasoning so it is very important for me to hear and listen carefully what people think - that is if I have a different opinion .
Before I make an opinion I do a lot of research and also ask other people what they are thinking but most people don't have a hard opinion on most things or they don't care.
I was on the debating team and it was rare that I would lose a point

Most people in America seem to have the Idea that only they are right. Disagreement occurs instead if just another opinion from a different perspective. It is the need to have the other person agree with us that causes the offense not the fact that they don't agree. Be tolerant in other views and offer yours only when ask or it is necessary and you will never again be offended.

Great question

No, I don't feel offended. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I do get offended when people assume things about me or insult me based on a difference in opinion, though. I've had forced-birth people tell me that I'm an immoral baby killer for being pro-reproductive choice. I prefer when people just agree to disagree.

To be honest I don't mind if someones opinion is different than mine as long as a few things are considered. A. that what they are saying is intelligent and they do not believe that its there way of life, religion etc.. or its wrong and B. if they are willing to listen to your side of things in returns and being open to at least understand your view of any matter.

There are certain things that I am certain I am correct about. These things, of course, do not include religion or politics.

No, I don't change the channel if someone has views opposite of mine, but I do feel badly if someone I know criticizes me on something I am positively right about. I usually don't say anything--let them remain ignorant.

I don't normally get offended just because they don't agree with me. I love a good debate though and will whole heartedly but respectfully try to get my point across. I do, however, get offended when someone is completely disrespectful when stating their opinion. Such as using offensive language, name calling, ect. I just choose not to talk to these people. I love to hear other peoples views. Sometimes I'm able to sway them with my side of things. Sometimes, by listening to them, I am swayed because they are able to point out aspects of the argument I may not have realized. Sometimes, we just have to agree to disagree. A good debate is healthy because it opens us up to other ideas and thoughts.

I'm very offended. The more stupid & blind they are the more it upsets me. Someone who is willing to listen to my side earns the right to have me listen to theirs. But someone just ranting to make noise or build ratings just sickens me.
It's sick that in America someone's entire job can be going on talk radio or a supposed "news" cable network and get paid to say stupid stuff to rile people up and divide them, just for ratings.

i dont get all upset...but i do watch the reactions of the people who disagree with me and i judge how they are acting and that usually tells me alot about them and how i should handle volatile subjects in the future....i do have strong opinions though but it is not worth blowing a gasket over!

No, not at all. Everyone has a right to an opinion. But that doesn't mean I have to agree with them.
