it usually happens when i am using the net and more often yahoo email, i have reinstaled yahoo messenger and associated programmes, but i still have the problem, I use Avast AV software, but this has found no viruses

Right click on My Computer icon> properties>Click on Advance Tab>Down at the bottom find Start up and System Recovery> hit the settings> uncheck---Under System Failure----Automatically Restart..
That should take care of it temporarily.
U might wanna rebuilt your PC from scratch...U might have some other serious issues which is causing it.

I had that problem too. Get a new virus scanner. Older ones dont know the newer viruses

How long has your PC been on when it does this? Check to see if it is getting too hot. Sometimes they will shut down if the fan is not working properly.

get the newer version of avast this will find the bugs .You could try using ie6 if it still happens you have abigger problem

go to www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html an get a free online scan without downloading if it finds a virus it will automatically delete it.

some of those can't be detected by normal virus scanners. they change your computer's registry and you need special software to get rid of them

It could be hackers getting onto your computer and remotely crashing it. Improve your firewall.

if is a laptop be sure is not geting to hot and if it is then clean the fan
