BeachBum - Show me in the Constitution where it says you have a right to privacy.
Since you have obviously never read it - and I doubt you will at my urging - let me tell you. IT DOESN'T EXIST. Americans enjoy an EXPECTATION of privacy - but there is no Constitutionally guaranteed right.
You also obviously do not follow the news or look at it too in depth. Wouldn't want to get a headache thinking about all that grown-up stuff, I guess. All that was happening with the banking records was that large amounts of money being moved to or from countries supporting terror or suspected terrorists were being reported up to the Secretary of the Treasury. Nothing more.
Are you seriously trying to tell us that it is okay for banks to report transactions over $10,000 to the government so you can't attempt to cheat on your taxes or launder money, but when they report large transactions to help SAVE PEOPLES' LIVES, it is somehow different and illegal??
Are you aware that the "domestic spying program" stopped the now famous al Qaeda plot to release nerve agent in the New York City subway system? Don't believe me? Call Diane Feinstein's office. Who is Feinstein? She is the uber liberal Democrat Senator from California, long-time critic of the domestic program and now supporter of the program. She now supports the program BECAUSE IT WORKS.
Are you aware that tracking the finances of terrorists are responsible for the apprehension of the Bali bombers a few years back? Remember all the clubs being bombed and killing the Australian tourists? We caught 'em through bank records.
You are probably one of the ultra libs that screamed and cried the Bush administration wasn't doing enough after 9/11 to prevent more attacks. SURPRISE!! Turns out he was doing something, AND IT WORKED!! And now you cry that he is doing too much? Can't have it both ways, sweetheart. Seems that there is some very strong hatred for President Bush here and NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES, you will be crying that it is the wrong thing.
I think almost five years of no terror attacks on American soil, the apprehension of dozens of terrorists on American soil and the spoiling of several terror plots leads to the fact that he is doing something very right.
And I DARE YOU to show me where your rights have been violated. How many times has your speech been abridged by the government since Bush took office? How many times has the government told you which church to attend? How many times has the government forcibly entered you home and confiscated your firearms? Why, hell ... even the New York Times will not be prosecuted - as they very well should be - for publishing state secrets. You'd be in jail right now if you told what they have.
The bottom line is that you are able to do everything you did in 2001, 1991, 1981 even back to 1901. If you personally have not been censored by the government YOUR RIGHTS HAVE NOT BEEN ABRIDGED!!!
I DARE YOU TO LEAVE THIS QUESTION UP TO A VOTE. You will be surprised at the answer that wins because it will not agree with your sentiments.
But, then again ... that is the very reason you will choose the Best Answer yourself, right???

If he were anyone but a Bush he might be...But Texas would probably try to suceed from the Union if that happened. But No, every government spys on their people...I know that seems extremely...Republican. But I'm acctually just a disillusioned Youth who's been answering these questions with much banter and I find it fun. Anywho, as far as I've seen it's only on International communication...So if you get a phone call from your dad who lives in Isreal and he asks how your blooms are doing, possibly meaning your flowers, and you get taken in and interogated by the FBI or NSA at least it might make a good book, or give you something to blog about besides crappy poetry :D But as I try to give at least one other sided part of every answer...I draw a blank. I guess I'm just a facist and okay with it... If Americans had just ONE year of dictatorial rule, I mean the real kind, not this whiney BS where a report leaks something and the government mumbles...but where the reporter is publically exicuted, the American people would appriciate EVERY liberity they got instead of whining about their illusion being slightly ruffled.
Also, if I post, by the time I finish like three people have mentioned my topics... So after reading what they said, I think it IS a law that the President is immune to many laws while president, though he may have to answer for them when his term is up. I just hope the Statute of Limitations doesn't run out before he's been kicked out, forced to leave, or just plain shot by some crazy person.
ps -- Oooh...I can hear the sirens now for just suggesting someone would assassinate the 'Prezidunt Boosh'

First. He has not broken any laws. The anti-terrorism act of 2001 allows domestic telephone tapping when the call originates or is going to an outside country. The NSA has computers that listen to the calls for certain "key words". The computer's analyze the information. As for banking records, that has been the case for many years. If you go to a western union and send over $10,000 you need to supply your social security number for the IRS database. That information has been used for money laundering cases many times. They are just starting to track large amounts of money from overseas transfers. The average person has no reason to think the government is watching them. It is nothing more than being paranoid. I for one would rather have the government spy on me and not have another 9/11 than to not have them do their job.
If someone else did it and was not president "yes, they would be in jail". But executive orders are hard to beat in court unless it is a blatant well documented violation of law. They would have to go to the Supreme Court.

Once again you spew opinion and try to paint it as fact. The real fact is that no laws were broken and the NY Trash flaunted their ability to print the story in the face of the US Gov.
The Supreme Court ruled in United States v. Miller in 1976 that no right to privacy attaches to the type of third-party financial-transaction information SWIFT has provided to the Treasury Department. The Right to Financial Privacy Act, enacted by Congress in 1978 in the wake of United States v. Miller, allows just the administrative subpoenas Treasury has been using. So does the Patriot Act. The SWIFT transactions that Treasury has been examining are international in nature. The searches are specifically targeted at suspected or known terrorists, a "sharp harpoon aimed at the heart of terrorist activity," as Treasury Secretary John Snow puts it. The claim that the rights of American citizens are infringed is irrational, unduly partisan, or both.

You're asking a question that is simply common sense. He broke the law. He should be punished.
Bush is about to throw out our Constitution whenever he wishes in the name of 9/11 and the War on Terror. This country is in big trouble.
DID YOU KNOW: Bush has signed 750+ times that 750+ laws in this country DO NOT apply to him, because he is the president and he is the decider. This is not a president, this is a dictator. Afterall, Bush says the Constitution is "just a g o d d a m n piece of paper" dont believe me? Go to any search engine and type this quote in. You'll see it for yourself.
Also, for more information on what Bush is and ISNT doing for this country, check out the Josh Fourrier on on www.AirAzonaRadio.com

Mr. Bush is a well guy who has obtained way more punishment than he ever deserved being within the White House, nonetheless he has performed his process and performed it rather good. Like so much presidents, he's in workplace by way of option. Many of individuals who assault him haven't any proposal of who he's, what he stands for or what he has controlled to achieve. I is not going to propose he has no longer made errors. All presidents do. He is not going to pass to prison. He has performed not anything to benefit punishment. There are a few who've critically instructed Bill Clinton must have needed to pass to prison. I do not consider them both.

Most definitely, & also a trial for his crimes against humanity.
While we're at it, let's go back to when he was governer,
Texas has had more executions than all the other states
combined - come on - something isn't right with that.
I recently heard one man they executed was later found
to be innocent.
Who will held accountable for that?!
750 new laws that don't apply to him? I just burped throw-up.

That should be the last time the American people should be allowed to vote an invididual with a 2 digit IQ to be President.
But then again, the hell I care, I didn't vote...
It just pisses me off everytime I gas up...
