Usually, a baby knows how to regulate the amount of food the baby takes in - it's pretty amazing but it's true. So it can vary day to day. If in a day you notice that the baby doesn't eat much, don't worry because your baby will try to compensate for it by eating more the next day or at the next feeding.
At 6 weeks, I think on average it would be about 2-4 oz. and the feeding would be at intervals of 3-4 hours. Sometimes the baby won't finish all 2 oz., but may eat 3 oz. the next time.It varies.
Babies have ways of knowing that they are full or that they need food. So if they are full, they'll stop eating no matter how you try them to get to eat more, but if they are hungry they will sure to let you know.
So don't worry, your baby won't ever starve. Unless if your baby is showing signs of an illness or loss of appetite for several days, call your doctor to see what the problem is.
Goodluck and have fun with your little one!

My doctor told me that infants are suppose to have at least two oz every two hours. however depending on the child it is kind of hard..when you are in the hospital the nurses wake your baby up every two hours to make sure they are eating. When I got home I let him eat when he was hungry....every baby is different, cause mine was sick when we brought him home and we had to count the ml. rather then oz cause he wasn't eating even a half an oz, but if you are having any doubts as to wither or not your baby is getting enough, talk to your doctor a quick phone call can take care of that and if the doctor has any concerns then they will let you know if you have to take your baby in for a check up .
Better to be safe then sorry.
good luck.

keep in mind all babies are different..mine took about 4 ozs. every 3 hours.....my pediatrician said a good rule would be to add a half an ounce if the time between when your baby gets hungry again decreases....wait a week then add again a half ounce if necessary....you don't want to overfeed...causing stomach upsets....hang in there!!and good luck with your baby!!there is alot to learn...my baby is 11 years old and i am still learning!!

Every baby is different, my daughter was drinking 2-3oz every 2-3hours and my friends baby who is the same age was drinking 4-5oz every 4hours. your baby will let you know so just follow your instincts. As a new mom I found that the book "Your bays first year" written by the American academy of pediatrics was so helpful in not only answering all my questions but very informative on all topics. Enjoy this time.. it goes fast.

This is a question best asked of your pediatrician because all babies needs are different. It depends alot on the length of your pregnancy, your babies health and weight at birth, etc.
Probably your baby will want to eat every 3 hours at this age but the amount can vary.

Mine ate between 1-4 oz every two to three hrs. Believe me they will let you know when they are hungry and if they need more. If your baby is fussy as soon as that bottle is pulled away he/she probably wants a little more.
