It's the red key you need. You say it's not an option however many dealers put this in the fuse box for safe keeping or in with the hand books. Alternatively contact the previous owner from the log book. If you can't get this you are screwed.

If you have any service history books, you can usually find the original company that registered the vehicle. Sometimes the number plates have the original dealership written on them. However its the original dealership that you need to get in touch with as they will or should retain the code for the keys. With this code you can get a new key made and depending on the type it could cost as little as £30/£40 pounds. I did this recently for my wife's Ford Cougar and this is how I know.

i lost the key for my fiat uno once... sucks dun'it?
If you can still get in, remove the barrel and take it to a locksmith (with your V5 document of course!) and ask him to lazer-scan it. For me, they managed to fabicate a new key!
2 things though. I dont know if your old key has a chip thingy and also not every locksmith can provide this service. Phone around.

Definitely head to a few breakers yards and price it. There should be a plentiful supply of them at a fraction of the cost.
