Are they paying you for an hour lunch? It's called a lunch hour, not a lunch hour and a half

The US Federal Government decided years ago that those who worked an 8-hour day were to have two fifteen minute breaks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and an hour for lunch.

There are many jobs where taking a break at either time is difficult. Those in food service do not usually take a lunch during the heaviest time of day but go early or late. That kind of negates break time.

Check your employee handbook.

Most do. Some do not. It depends on what you do. If you are a police officer you only work 8 hours a day and your 30 minute lunch break is all you get but you leave after 8 hours. if you are a truck driver then there are different laws that govern your hours and breaks. The list goes on. To get an accurate answer one would have to know your job, your title and a few other things.

Connecticut does not require breaks at all. A half hour meal period is required for work past 7 1/2 hours and must come between the first 2 and last 2 hours of work.

It has to be in a contract, such as union, otherwise they might be obligated to do it, but you're gonna play hell proving it against company lawyers who will say you knew what you were getting into.

If they are paying your lunch hour, I don't think so. Check with your local branch of "labor relations".
