Halloween. Simple, pure, not a gorefest like others in the genre. Nightmare on Elm also very good as was The Exorcist. Jaws is great, but not really 'horror'....more 'Action/Adventure' with superior suspense.

The Exorcist is the scariest movie I've ever seen in my life but I like the Halloween movie series. I have the entire Michael Myers costume. I scare the living hell out of people on Halloween night!

The Evil Dead. This was the scariest movie I'd ever seen. I couldn't get any sleep the night I watched it. The thumping sound that the swing on the porch was making kept coming to me in my dreams.

You missed the scariest one of all, The Stand. This is the movie that could really happen. Just imagine going through the Lincoln tunnel like in the movie. Everytime I go through there, my skin crawls.
