The only thing I want for free is my (water, air, and speech). I understand things cost money. On the other hand, people want stuff for free, because they are cheap. They don't want to pay for anything. They want to drive a car that they dont' have to pay for because when they were young, thier mommie and daddie gave them thier first car. They forgot that they had to put gas in it. Me? I was working and paying for my own stuff at 15. I'm 35 now and can't even get FREE sex. She wants dinner, flowers, candy. She wants some drinks, clothes, shoes. Can't I get a little Free Sex every now and then? What's wrong with that?

I would think it's not only americans...but people in general. Would you rather spend 50 dollars for an item or 100 for that exact same object? Mainly companies make people that way. Companies compete and they let it known that their competitors are selling that same object for more. Therefore making the consumers not want to be "had" by those companies they go on a quest to find the lowest price. The reality is that most everything revolves around money in most peoples minds. Everyone wants to find a way to make the most money, save the most money and build the largest empire. Companies sell items for as much as they possibly can. Car comapnies build cars to break down after a certain ammount of time so that consumers buy more of their product. The world is a greedy place and a lot of people are out to get money. Therefore those same people who are out to get money try to keep from spending their own.

We spend alot of money on other things, everyone loves a bargain and anyone who doestn like getting things for free or a low price is probably way too rich to care or comprehend the struggle regular americans endure to make ends meet.

Well we like things we dont have to pay for. I for one am very cheap I would say. For example, going to a hotel and keeping the shampoo/soap after checking out.
When we buy things, we always like to get what we pay for. Thats why we are more prone to buy things that are on sale because we work hard for our money and we want to make the most of it.
So getting something for FREE is a win win. If you are done with it, you can just throw it out.

Who ever it was that said you must be rich is wrong!! Rich people get all kinds of things free! I never could figure that one out! The more money you have the more you get for free . Its amazing some of the things!! As for the other people they just want to be like the rich!!

no we are just all fed up for paying for everything.
water costs money, when we use to pump it out of wells, air costs money if you want it clean, cooler or hotter.
society has come to the point where they make money at everything, even farmers have to buy new seeds every year because the seed makers have them degenerate after a year. so if we can find something from free we will try it. but nothing is free, everything has a cost.

It's not that Americans are cheap. It's the fact we are greedy. And anything you can get for free, certain Americans...not all...feel that they are one up on the other. Does that help answer your question?

Although America is a rich country and the number of well-off people are increasing, the flip side is that more American are falling into the lower classes.
Consequently, some people will look to save money wherever they can. You can hardly blame them.

Americans aren't cheap but they are being cheated -- price of cost of living and not enough income and big corporations screwing us over, etc. etc. You're telling me that if you can get something for free you'd say NO if it's something you want or need? I call that SMART - not cheap.
