If they don't like it, why would they come here to insult people who do.
They say that is for sissies, but I would like to see them going to a World Cup event after a very long round of elimination to show that their abilities are worth it.
Ok, even I get mad when people fake injuries but it's part of the game. Wouldn't you do anything to keep winning? I know most americans would.
Also, when players are actually injured they call them wimps. Try being kicked, stomped, stepped and sometimes hit in the face when you're wearing much lighter clothes that the ones you use at their version of football. And they use that type of clothes because football is about agility.
Also, they complain about low scoring, that the matches end in ties. Well, matches that end in ties can be more exciting that the ones that are won. Why? Cause you can see how the 2 teams struggle, how they give all they have to win. I admit that is frustrating when your team ties but that's part of the magic of football

Ignorance. I thought it was boring until I was stuck in a small english town with nothing to do in 1982. I had to watch the world cup, and after a few matches I realized what a great game it is. Most americans aren't in a position where they have to give it a fair chance, so they watch it for 10 minutes, decide it's boring and change the channel. I think if they gave it an honest look, a lot more would like it. But even if I didn't like it now, I wouldn't come here and post smack, I'd let people enjoy what they want to. For example I don't go to nascar sites and post what I think of it.

One thing I'll make no bones about disliking is the faking of injuries. I think that is so lame, and nothing's going to change that.

And you may find it interesting to hear that I walked throug north beach san francisco yesterday at lunchtime, a number of cafes were broadcasting the Ukraine-Switzerland match, and they were packed inside and also had tons of people standing on the street looking at the screens inside. It's growing here, and I think that's going to continue.

I do have to laugh at all these "US football is wussy/for gays" etc. comments. I can guarantee you everyone posting that would rather meet ronaldinho than any NFL linebacker and call them names to their face.

I am American and I don't complain about football/ Futbol/ Soccer.

Why to people always generalize when talking about Americans. There are nearly 300 million of us here. maybe one or two could be a decent person.

Everyone that watches a sport and invests time and money in being a fan should have the right to complain about a bad call, fake fall or dirty play.

Did you watch the US play Ghana. When Ghana a Ghana player went down fake or not the USA kicked the ball out of bounds so they could get the medical attention needed. Even while down one goal and fight to go on to the next round.

I am not particularly fond of soccer, but I do agree with some of your points. We are just used to more high scoring games; however I'm American and for a country that calls soccer boring I don't how the hell so many of us can make it through a baseball game. I feel like soccer and baseball are perfect examples of games that are fun to plan than to spectate. At least in my opinion.

And we call it soccer because before we (as in Americans) were introduced to soccer we had already established a game called Football. Unless we were going to either rename our Football with its already established fanbase something else or call soccer Football II or Football Universal. Get over it! And by the way I wish people would stop generalizing Americans. I really can't understand why you love to hate us...

The reason why Americans complain about soccer is because there are no cheerleaders, no beer commercials, no timeouts, no instant replay for refs, and no (almost) pads.

I think soccer is awesome. It is the greatest sport in the world, but it isn't loved by Americans because it wasn't invented by Americans.

OK it is called soccer, just like everything should be measured in ft./yds./lbs.

Americans complain about everything, not just football. As you can see, all that complaining got them no where, fast. Americans play the wussy sports like American Football, which is not actually football. They can't go a full game without halftimes and timeouts. They are the big wusses!

...And without having thirty second breaks for everyone four seconds they play.

I will have to agree with you. If you don't like the sport, don't watch and don't comment on something you have no idea of what you are talking about. And for you Americans it's not soccer, it's football.

Do you know that USA have never won the world cup ever? So, they are trying to use all means possible to win it.

They have never even reached the semis, yet they are so popular. It makes one wonder!!!

Please, take note that is not all of us. When you say" Americans", sound like it is everybody. Like in every country in the world, we have a share of that kind of people. And, believe it or not, many think that embracing soccer it is anti-American.

A few of us know this sport better than most and were watching Pele play when you were just a gleam in your daddy's eye. Bear that in mind.
