I think it differs depending on the "liberal" although you may have noticed that there are some "conservatives" out there who are speaking out against the war as well - and are promptly branded with the L word, too.

I don't know if the public will ever know whether or not there were viable WMDs in Iraq when we invaded. In this age of Wag The Dog politics, it's hard to say.

I will say that the longer this war goes on, the more money seems to be poured into Halliburton. And it's been made pretty clear that there was no advance planning made for reconstruction past the first "shock and awe." There have been some incredibly incompetent decisions made by this administration - disbanding the Iraqi army was just out-and-out stupid. We lost a huge resource there, an enormous opportunity, and let it turn to powerlessness and rage - which is all transformed into civil war now that the guns are easier to get.

I don't think we have enough personnel in our employ (here or overseas) with the diplomatic skills (you know, like speaking the language for starters) needed to resolve any of the issues fueling this conflict.

I despise war as a means to anything. I do see its necessity, but only in direst need. And if you start a war, you'd darned sure better know how you're going to end it. There's no end in sight. There's just ratings, spin, blame, and lies.

So for this liberal, it's not about hating Bush. It's about being utterly and completely disappointed by the incompetence of this administration.

Uh, because it was started by an illegal invasion of a neutral nation (2 counting Afgh) which had no proven connection to 9/11/01.

Um, because the best way to jack up the price of oil at the pump is to create uncertainty in the Middle East, and what better way to create uncertainty than to attack middle eastern nations and threaten to attack others.

Ummm, because nearly 3000 of our friends relatives and neighbors have been killed for what? WMD (the ones they found were inert and unusable remnants from the early 90s). To free Iraqis from an evil tyrant (How bout Kim IL Jong, or the masses in Darfur?

Umm, because even your beloved W cannot now, nor could he ever, tell you or anyone when the "war" there will be "won." The only thing he could do now is tell you when the troops might come home (alive or dead). Unless you and he are prepared to kill every muslim extremist on earth, there will be more "terrorism."

Hell, and I'm not even Liberal.

Well, yes, first, I'm against the war because I hate George W. Bush, his dad, his ugly wife, and his stupid looking daughters! However, I should also add, that he is a complete idiot: "Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you" IDIOT!!! "Umm, Umm," seriously the guy can't speak, he's almost retarded like. Did he have a seizure, or stroke???

Secondly, I'm against the war, because its senseless. Are you aware that your President, George W. Bush, admitted that the Administration did not have any proof that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11; he said it himself.

Thirdly, I would not support any unsubstantiated war, no matter who was in office.

Fourth, you're right, the US military did find those beautiful WMD in Iraq; but let's not forget that the Regan Administration first supplied them to Suddam to fight against Iran back in the 1980's, so there shouldn't be any surprise that WMD were found there.

And, lastly, Iraq isn't a war, it's a corporate take over. Conservative brain-washing at it's best, "God Bless America!"

500 cans of 14 year old of mustard gas do not constitute "an urgent threat" (as the "president" desribed WMDs) to the United States. The Duffler report said it all skippy, there were no WMDs in Iraq. Saddam didn't sneak them in to Syria, he didn't burry them either. They were distroyed before W got selected.

Lyndon Johnson was a leader of the Democratic party and a liberal. When he escalated the Vietnam War, the liberals turned on him, for a good reason. It's the stupid and wasteful wars we hate, not presidents.

It was the reason for going to war that we are against. Which we haven't gotten a clear reason yet. WMD's...disproven; Saddaam's ties to Bin Laden...disproven; now what? We don't cheer needless war, we try and correct it. Educate yourself before you start asking questions that make you look stupid.

Possibly it is also always cool to be opposed to war, remember those who opposed Vietnam first got all the attention.
Second, namby pamby liberals do not like to spend the time to do the job correctly, they always want quick fixes, to problems that have been years in the making.

The liberals would rather see a nation dependent on big government than a nation of strong, self-reliant families.
