I live there, so let me see....

The Inner Harbor is touristy, but still nice. There's the true sights like the Aquarium and Science Center, but they can be touristy. reason for that is they are such good attractions. I live here and go to each at least once a year.

The Inner Harbor area also has Oriole Park to catch a baseball game (wonderful stadium, team not so good at this point). There are lots of places ot eat and shop, though the best places to eat are in Little Italy, which is north of the harbor area. Vellegia's and Della Notte are the two biggest and most well known places, but I like Rocco Capriccio's. And try Vaccarro's Patiserie for dessert, but only if you have left LOTS of room.

Outside the city, there are some areas which are rough, so be sure to get a map. if you head up I-83 (known locally as the Jones Falls Expressway) you come to Towson, which is a nice place with a teriffic (though confusing to park in) mall. Once in Towson, you can take Dulaney valley Road north to Loch Raven resevoir, a scenic body of water for fishing and walking, as well as nature observation, hiking, and some good olf courses.

I'm from B-more and this time of the year the Inner Harbor is wonderful even though that is where all the tourist go to. Your sure to find some eye candy. Try the Baltimore Zoo, Annapolis, or Ocean City. Make sure you try some crabs or a crabcake. Depending on when you come there may be a festival going on.
