I can't stand when guest don't take off their shoes, I have beige carpet and white tile and it really shows dirt. I hate sounds like a nag, and posting a sign seems even more rude. Any suggestions or should I just grow up and directly ask "Please take off your shoes" ? Even tho I have a bunch of shoes by the door, people just don't get it....

If they are invited guests let them know upon invite that is how it is at your house Anyone who you invite, should be friends enough to know you enough to understand. All others you definatly should directly ask nicely to take off their shoes, they aren't the one's who wash the floors/carpet!

I have the same problem too. Its difficult to tell people to take off thier shoes! Can you imagine all those dirts that they bring in to your house?

Some people don't get it. They thought that the bunch of shoes by the door was dirty or you just wash it and need to be dry. People cannot read your mind sometimes :-(

Anyway, the best thing you can do is to put a shoe rack beside the door. If its not working, maybe you can put a sign just above the shoe rack. ''Please take off your shoe''. Make a sign with colourful and intresting font ...so it will attract people attention.

If they still don't get it, and you hate other people to enter your house with thier shoes on and step on your beige capet and your white tile. Make sure your front door is close and lock. When guest ring the bell, you can answer the door and tell them nicely with a smile and say '' Do mind taking off your shoe before coming in?'' .

Good Luck :-)

Ps: And be prepared if the guest says ''no'', after you tell them nicely...cos' the may have thier personal reasons or they are not used too it.

It's sort of a cultural factor, so that you would have got to be all set on your visitors to be a bit uncomfortable or in poor health-all set to take off their sneakers. Try maintaining a bit basket of low-cost, cleanable slippers via the door for visitors. Then you'll say some thing like "It's a culture in our loved ones to take away our sneakers, but when you are extra relaxed with some thing for your toes, do aid your self to a couple of slippers." For illustration, I put on ballet apartments plenty and rarely put on socks. Sometimes my toes are a bit sweaty, and I'm self-mindful approximately stinking up humans's residences. And mostly humans's tile flooring are bloodless and uncomfortable on real naked toes--it is an terrible feeling. I'd like to be in a position to difference into a couple of slipper socks in the ones instances. Be pleasant, calm, and frank whilst you deal with this limitation together with your visitors. I suppose a number of the humans you would be inclined to deliver dwelling might even be inclined to be accommodating.
