I love discovering new bands, and I was wondering where there's good info on new indie bands, upcoming shows, etc.

Try going to the official sites of indie bands that you like or look in music magizines like Rolling Stone.
personally I like Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, and the Killers. They're other great indie bands out there too.

well you can go to the site for a record label of an indie band you already like and they will have information on other bands on the label. i have discovered some of my favorite bands this way.
music magazines, sometimes not so popular ones, like Paste, has great articles on new and current indie bands and their shows.
and of course if you find a band from any of these ways you can do Google searches on them to find more info, tour dates, pics, etc.

You could try looking through a music blog. http://sixeyes.blogspot.com/ is one that I like, and have used to find many new bands to obsess over. Lots of free downloads. If you scroll down a bit, on the left-hand corner, you can also get a list of other mp3/music blogs to try. Very nice.
