I have been stalling. Guys only please. My GP knows a doctor who will do it in his rooms under local. I think I might prefer a hospital under general. How long without sex afterwards?

I'm 34 and had one last year under a local. I am the hugeist baby when it involves pain "down their". The worst part is when they are putting in the local, they will give you lots of advice about how long to ice and keep off your feet etc. I was up and walking around the next day, but I assure you I didn't think about sex for at least a few weeks. I will say it was totally worth it, I have two beautiful babies and thats enough, now my wife doesn't have to take birth control, and I don't have to worry about more babies! Good luck, it really isn't as bad as you might be thinking, I was scared ****less!

It's no big deal, really. It takes about 10-15 minutes. The longest part is waiting for the "surgery" to start. A local is fine. You don't feel a thing after the first sting - like a mosquitoe bite. Then it's a very small cut on both sides of the scrotum along with two knots and a small snipe. Once it's done, you wait for about 1/2 hour for the local to wear off, then walk to car and home. How long without sex afterwards depends on your healing rate. Usually about two days and then the fun begins. No worries and a whole lot of practice. Hope this takes the fear out of it.

Go for it...get it over with...some of the best sex afterwards (you don't have to worry as much about getting her pregnant.)

The local anesthetic is not so bad...my doctor put a topical stuff on the area to numb it a little and then he used a very fine needle to administer the anesthetic. Nothing to it. Don't put your body through going under general anesthetic. Not worth the risks.

Oh, and by the way...get a bag of frozen peas and apply them to the area...this will help with any discomfort or pain you have.

I don't recommend it, but I did happen to get an erection after my surgery for some strange reason and I was all alone because my wife took the kids out so I could rest and I took care of the erection.

I can't remember how long the doctor told us to wait before having sex without a condom. You need to go back and get checked to make sure there are no swimmers left, but then after that...smooth sailing!

Hope that helps.

Look, everyone is different. Some make it through it ok and others like me had a hard time. I had my vasectomy 5 years ago. Yes, it usually takes 10-30 mins. to due it. But for me it took 3 hours. They doctor could not numb me down there. He tried but on one side I felt everything. Every cut everything. I hurt so much. And after wards was worse for me. I followed the docs. orders to the t but my balls still got bigger. Every 30 mins I had to ice them suckers. I didn't want to have sex for 2 weeks. That's hard when your wife must have it every day. Anyway, now after 5 years I am having problems with it. The docs are now saying that I could loose one or both of my balls. Doctors will tell you every thing that is good about it. But I have not found one doctor that will tell you all the things that can go wrong.

By the way... I am under my wife's account on here... That explains the avatar.

I'm 32 and had one about 8 years ago after our second child. It was the least I could after all my wife went through to get both of our children into this world.
Yes it did hurt to get a shot down there, but I think it was worse to have my Doctor, of many years, handling my goods. Especially when he had to "tape" my *&^^% down so it wouldn't be in the way.
Oh and you never feel the buring(but you can smell it) or the cutting, or the tugging at your innerds. It did hurt the first few days so keep up the meds and don't over do it the first few days. Just find a comfortable chair and stay there. I was up installing sprinklers outside in a couple of days.

Didn't mean to scare you, but again, it's the least you can do. The best side affect is that you can have sex whenever, wherever without having to worry about condoms or birth control.

It was literally a piece of cake. Go for a local, lots less bs. I felt a little nauseous during the procedure but it's over pretty quick and I went to Red Lobster afterwards. A little pain during the next few days but I was back in the saddle within a day or so.

Go for it. You'll wonder what took you so long.

I stalled too. It wasn't bad at all. The shaving was the worst part. When I got in a little local, snip snip and I was out. Regret that I did not do it before, no worries about some ladies kid tugging on my pants leg in a mall calling me Daddy

You should only do it IF you would not want any more children if your wife (?) and kids all died. My conniving ex tried to talk me into one and I didn't do it. Years later, she has had a hysterectomy and the wonderful young lady I met and married 18 months after the ex left me is 33 and apparently quite fertile.
