Keep them busy. Ride bikes with them, rollerblade, take them to the park. Give them entertaining books to read and then ask them to draw pictures of their favorite parts of the book. Play educational games..the list is endless.

Get them invovled in a sport or maybe sometype of group. Have a family game day like every few weeks or try and find alternative or do what my mom did if the tv is causing problems take it away for a few weeks then they will learn to appericiate it and maybe by then they would have found other things to do and wont use it as much

well depending on the age of the children you could just disconnect everything and just tell them it's not working or if there is time create family time and play games inside or out or create some fun activities that they would enjoy.

If they are older just be more demanding about how much tv they can watch. you are the parent, show them who is boss.

Have the children play outside in the yard. You can also set up activities for them to do in the house and you can get involved with them. Sit down and read books to them or find something creative for them.

Parents need to spend time with their children instead of using the TV as a babysitter.

Children also need to play outside instead of playing video games.

Tell them they need to read, and then turn off the t.v.. If they whine tell them to goto their room (unplug or move the t.v. if there is one in the child's room). If they start crying set times at which they can watch t.v.. If they start breaking out of the "time line" (no pun intended) spank them. If that doesn't work, send them to Dr. Phil, and let him tell you to spank them again.

U are the parent, say NO. Play with your children, have crafts, puzzles, games to do. They won't miss it if you never let them get used to having it. If they already are used to it, they will get over it. Just stay firm.

Go out and do things with them. Take them to parks, museums, plays, go out on tours, and be a good example. Most children will imitate their parents.

Spend more time with them doing activities in the house (playing, reading a book, doing their homework, helping in the house) and they will eventually forget about the tube. I`ve done it, its effective.
