I have a 25 year old friend that has a dream to be a pro bowler. He's pretty good and I have full confidence that if he took it seriously, he probably could be pro. However, I don't know that he has the drive to commit to getting to the next level.

Should I support him and tell him that I believe he can do it and pursue his dream, or should I be honest and tell him that, while I think he's good, I don't think he has the heart for it?

do a mixture of both, tell him that you know he has the talent to succeed and that he just needs to put a little more effort into it and be sure to tell him that you will be there to support him no matter what.

There's nothing wrong with supporting your friend for his dream. He needs plenty of support and encouragement. I think its best to continue to encourage him and ask him if this is something that he wants to do for the rest of his life. Besides, you're his friend and you should always be there for him.

Be honest with him. Tell that while he has the skill, you aren't sure he has the drive and that's very important. But if he makes the decision that he still wants to do it, then support him with that decision and accept it.

just tell him to do what u think is the best thing for him to do in a polite way or manner. u should have patience with him and do not pressure him. if he makes up his mind and doesn't do what u think is the best thing for him to do, just support him and help him make the best of his skills in that sector.
