There are several ways to fix this such as an in place upgrade or getting a good copy of the file from another computer and copying it onto this machine. Otherwise if you just want to get the files then there are several other method you can use such as putting the hard drive in a second computer and just pulling off the files. Also, if the system is fast enough, you could get a CD bootable version of Linux called SLAX which you startup from and then you can access your hard drive that way. Or you could probably boot using a windows 95 boot disk, but then you would have to be familiar with DOS. Any relatively computer savvy person should be able to help you.

Himem.sys is a memory driver for your RAM. You can download the HImem.sys for Windows 95 and then install it in the right place on the computer. This should allow your machien to boot up again.

Hmmm...
Perhaps You removed it accidentally,
try to find it by typing
c:\>dir/s himem.sys, recopy the file to c:\windows..
if You still could find it... just copy the file from other PC with the same version of windows.Or You can make a bootdisk on the PC and copy the himem.sys.
Have a try

Its probably not working because the computer software or design is old and you have new version of things installed.
