None of my co-workers get reception either, and they all have different providers. We all sit by the window. All tall structures are built out of concrete and metal. What makes ours so different?

Its because either the concrete, metal, or the structure is blocking the reception from the towers to ur phones. That happens all the time to people.Try going to other floors and see if u can get reception there if so than start making the calls from there.

That happened to me when I went to the mall and I could only get reception in the gift wrapping/customer service department.

How much metal and how it is erected affects cell phone signals also flourescent lights affect signals. If this is the only tall building you can not get reception, I would suspect that the metal is forming a "protective" grid blocking the signals.

It could be because the antennas that provide service are designed to spread out to cover more area. They are not designed to cover area going up.
